A while ago, I made one (with an alias name even), but I deactivated it the same day because it knew people I went to school with, even though I typed in mostly wrong stuff :P That freaked me out.
I find FB to mostly be a distraction from real life with the exception of contacting long-distance people that I would not see regularly.
Google+ looks somewhat promising, although I am not keen on the ~66% male population... From viewing my friends' profile, I like the idea of "circles" of friends (an idea FB probably should have implemented earlier) and other features, but the UI looks convoluted relative to FB.
Now, about FB. I believe that it is a good website, but a few of the features could be refined more, like the 'unlike' button, if you had already liked something and want to undo that, especially in groups/pages.
There definitely needs to be an "dislike" button in FB. Addressing your later statement, you are allowed to unlike groups and pages your previously liked. It is awkward, even with the button.
Though right now Google + isn't as, shall I say refined as Facebook, but in the beginning, Facebook wasn't as great either (also the fact that G+ is currently in beta). I'd expect for Google + to be refined, matching or even surpassing Facebook. We'll see.
Certainly FB was nothing in the beginning. I can see Google+ as having great potential -- if they could improve their UI. Noting FB's ten-plus UI improvements (some within the span of days), I think Google+ can reach the level of FB and eventually surpass it.
I have a fb and its a good way to waste some time and see what my friends are up too.. also its a good way to keep in touch with people. for example, i went to a summer camp this year and made a ton of friends that i still talk to on fb when usually i would just forget about everyone i met over time
Hmmmmm, I thought the Rules and Guidelines said not to bring up dead forums. But since it's alive again I have to say that I used to be on my facebook 24/7. Not anymore, after having it for so long it got pretty boring.
The new changes on Facebook are beginning to annoy me. For example, the new chat system angers me because I can't tell how many people are online at the same time. All I see are a small list of SOME of my friends.
if I gave a crap about what my old friends were doing, or if I wanted to hear about how much better their lives are than mine because theyre all successful hipster d-bags, I might consider joining facebook.
