I really like both of them. There are lots of positives and negatives for each side.
Flash Games- They can be played for hours or just a few minutes but are still addicting. They cannot however match the graphics of Video Games. These are also free, usually.
Video Games- Most of them you cannot just play for a minute, you have to spend some time on them. They can have extremely good graphics but it costs money to buy the games and system etc.
They both have there ups and downs but it just depends on what you want to play.
I have absolutely nothing against good Flash games. They're still games, and some of them have reached the length of NES games. (Best example is Super Crossover Bros.) But between the two, I prefer video games. They keep you busy for much longer, usually. And whether it's a memory card, save states, or a round in a fighter, you can still play for a few minutes, leave, and come back at another time.
http://xkcd.com/484/ Here is a comic about flash and video games.
Needs to be a rule of the Internet that inevitably, someone will bring up XKCD in almost any type of discussion.
I have to say Flash Games are better given how they work. You don't need a good system spec or good internet to get one working fine, they're free and can equal Video Games on some traits (Story / Graphics depending which games you're comparing - Epic War 2, bad but almost nostalgic graphics and a very generic but well done campaign if you ask me).
The best examples of Flash Games I know are: Crush the Castle - feel the impact and you can make your own castles for others to try to defeat. Bubble Tanks - Amazing customization, fun shooting and endless possibilities (I've made over 100 variations of allied and enemy tanks - type in the Author Slot "Highfire" and you'll see the ones I made) Epic War - Varying gameplay throughout each games, I prefer Epic War 2 the most because the story, the time spent and its age are shockingly good. Sonny - It has all the traits of a video game with an AMAZING storyline - was anyone here around when Sonny 2 had its own forum section? The debate and the figuring out of what was going to happen to conclude the Sonny Series was astonishing.
I almost definitely forgot one or two which are really good as well - Colony, for one.
I don't care much for either, but flash games usually have better forums.
I have to disagree with you there.
Emergency 4 fansite forum (Video game) Call of Duty forum (Video game) Just to name a few, google up any video game, and add in forum at the end, and your bound to find one. If I type in The Lance forum (a flash game) I don't get a forum dedicated to this game, unlike Video games. 90% of modern video games have a forum community. Flight Simulator X has multiple communities. I can't even find a Sonny forum that is DEDICATED to Sonny. (e.g. The forum was made specifically for the use of Sonny ONLY)
I think video games are better than flash games because you can put alot more content in them. It's very, very unlikely that a flash games exceeds the size of 1GB, but if someone has no money to buy a game, flash games are a great alternative. Although deciding between one of both is difficult, I'd rather go with the video games instead of flash games, because no only they have more content but they can be modded
