Hey everybody. Everybody loves random facts, right? So I've created this topic to discuss about them.
They must be interesting and real (no need to cite sources, but they must be real) and (according to the AG rules) they must have 7 or more words.
Let me begin.
In England a woman named Ceejay Epton (age 22) decided to change her name after her son was born. The reason: she wanted to help the baby to learn the alphabet faster. Then she changed her name to
"Ceejay A Apple B Boat C Cat D Dog E Elephant F Flower G Goat H House I Igloo J Jellyfish K Kite L Lion M Monkey N Nurse O Octopus P Penguin Q Queen R Robot S Sun T Tree U Umbrella V Violin W Whale X X-Ray Y Yo-yo Z Zebra Terryn Feuji-Sharemi"
She got the idea from a friend that wanted to be named "Pink" and decided to change her name too.
The good news is that on England, the name changing process is easy and costs £10
It costs more than one cent to mint a penny. about 1/3 americans flush the toilet while sitting on it. A humming bird is the only bird that can fly backwards. They have square watermelons in Japan- they stack better. Peanuts are one of the ingredients in dynamite. Armadillos can be housebroken. Every time you lick a stamp, you consume one tenth of a calorie. Dolphins sleep with one eye open. You will eat 35,000 cookies in your lifetime. In 2003, there were 86 days of below freezing tempature in Hell, Michigan. In England in the 1880's, "ants" was considered a dirty word. Every day, there is more Monopoly money printed than U.S. money.
The term "guy" was invented around 1605 when the first Guy Fawkes day was celebrated. (he was the person who tried to blow up Parliament on November 5th) The children of villages would dress a scarecrow in Fawkes' particular clothes and a mask of his face (yeah, the same clothes and mask from V for Vendetta) and burn it in a bonfire.
The term guy used to mean an oddly dressed person (like Fawkes), but is now used to describe any male person.
The domestic house cat is a small carnivorous mammal. Its most immediate ancestor is believed to be the African wild cat. The cat has been living in close association with humans for somewhere between 3,500 and 8,000 years.
The word soccer is was actually a British creation. They wanted a shortened version of saying "association football", and so they took the "soc" from association and added "cer". And so soccer was born, at least the word.
