Question: If I find some players acting very rudely & vulgar to me, how can I "report" them?
It's something I've been eager to know lately ever since I started playing "Shell Shock Live". It's the first & so far only multiplayer game I've played on AG. I notice there's a very high frequency of players who, well, act like trolls on that game in a way that's not so common in the comments section of individual 1-player games. I see a lot players insulting each other (and me) in the immature ways that I remember so much from my long-past days in middle school. Calling each other various words that I won't repeat because then I'd get banned for saying them in this post. Normally I could just ignore the chat, but in the case of this game people sometimes attack people on their own teams deliberately. Doing so reduces the XP that their teammates get, and therefore directly sabatoges players' progress (and in a game that's not designed for that to happen). If I'm on such a game and quit it to avoid the annoyance, I *lose XP* for quitting mid-game.
Now I've been reading through the forums, and read through the "Forum Rules and Guidelines" thread and the "http://armorgames.com/community/thread/6757709/quick-faq-this-answers-everything" thread, and there's a lot in there explaining what it means to "flame" or "troll", and advising people not to do it. It does tell how to "flag" a player who breaks the rules(such as in a comment in a game page or in the forums), but this multiplayer game presents a new problem. There are no comments anywhere that are stationary that have a "flag" symbol to click. I think I read that I can go to a player's profile page and report them there. But when someone logs into Shell Shock Live, is their username there always the same as their ArmorGames account name? And can people log into it from accounts on other sites that aren't AG?
I don't want to be a stick-in-the-mud here, but I can stand for some people to troll in such a way as to deliberately hold other players back from progessing in a game. And the live-multiplayer format of SSL (and I assume other games, which I just haven't yet played myself) really seems to present an environment where people can be jerks and get away with it.
People might not be so frequently, openly rude if they got warnings from admins saying they'll be banned if they don't stop (or something along those lines), but how would admins/mods/etc ever even know, unless we can report each other for rulebreaking?
whatever they do to you, do the same but 10x worse. try to use as many expletives as you can, and turn on caps lock whenever possible to emphasize how mad you are at them. if they still wont go away, post links to vulgar images to show you mean business. if they still havent given up, hack into the game and remove them yourself. if you cant do that, smash your computer and go outside and enjoy the great outdoors.
thats the opposite of what you do floyd, unless you want to get banned and/or arrested. i would say that the best thing you could do is just ignore them. usually the trolls are the least respected, lower life forms on these websites.
(going back on topic) The problem with "just ignoring" the trolls in a game like Shell Shock Live, is when they're team-killing. It's hard to "just ignore" that I'm in a game where my team is going to lose on purpose and therefore I'm hardly going gain any XP in it (and it takes quite a few games to gain each level). The only way to really do so is to just leave the browser window with the game open, but ignore it & do something else on my computer or off, & let my tank "just sit there" until the game ends or I get disconnected from it, then go back & play a new game or something else. It's "letting the trolls win" in another way by letting them waste my playing time.
you guys have trolls wrong, all they do is have fun with jokes, ex can i have a moment of your time? thank you, you get it? you lose a moment of your life, flamers are the guys who misspell stuff and say stuff like "you gais are retarded ***ots and gte a lief" that's who you report
Lol. But seriously, that thread you read was about the forums and the community, where we have a moderating team and you can use the flag tool to report to admins. The problem with SSL is that it's not developed by AG, so it's impossible for AG to implement moderation and report tools inside of the game. I don't play SSL very often but if I remember correctly this is a version for only AG users, so it would be possible to report them on an admin profile, but I don't know if it's fair/useful to punish them here for something they did on a game. However you should ask cormyn for a definitive answer. I know that he has been banning colony hackers for a while, but that's not the same thing as just being rude.

trolls are people that make fun of or "bully" other players/members for fun. flamers are just people with anger issues
nonetheless, it would at least keep them from trolling on any other part of the site. thats pretty much the only thing that can be done about game trolls.
