As a Armor Games frequenter (although not posting in the community very much), I was looking forward to TLS: Union City before it was released. However, I was somehow disappointed.
No, I am not saying that the games is bad. It is very good, but it can be better. The biggest problem lies in creativity. The game has not introduced any creative gameplay mechanism or creative contents. Also, there is nothing outstanding in the game, that is, I don't have a strong impression of the game even after I beat it.
Another problem lies in the achievements and secrets. I have no inclination to get achievements nor finding secrets. I do realize that I missed something when I reach the end of the game, but I have no regret, despite that I strive to complete everything in Mardek or Epic Battle Fantasy. Actually, I think this is because the achievements are tedious to get and they are not so rewarding.
The third and final problem lies in the difficulty. Personally, I find the game too easy even in survivor mode. For me, I just used a sledge to bash anything to hell. It is because I put many points into the blunt skill. In my opinion, this game is no exception to the "rule of specialization", which means that it is more efficient to specialize in a few skills than to be balanced. This makes the gmae so easy.
In conclusion, this game can be much better and much more epic. I don't mean to rant; I just think that Con Artist can make a better job. I trust his abilities.
I think it's a fantastic improvement over the former 2, which were both stagnant and unimaginative games with no innovation or creativity. They were fun for 10 minutes then never re-visit in my opinion, while as this latest one is a full on flash action RPG. Yeah, it's not perfect, this is flash there's only so much you can expect from the developers. Fact is, mountains of hardwork went into designing and building this game and I for one think it's a fantastic achievement. Completed the game 3 times, I'll be watching for future updates/patches or news of another sequel.
