So I got an e-mail from microsoft talking about merging with some online company. To show me a bit of it, they gave me a free trial of a game called 'Tinker'. The game is okay, but what was really cool, is how it was like Xbox Live on my Laptop. It's really neat how you have a game library and when you play a game, you can earn achievements that go toward your actual gamer points. And if you know someone else who has this game, I guess you can play online with them (as long as you have xbox Live gold that is). Thoughts?
I am interested as the new "Microsoft Flight" is coming out and uses Windows Live, which sounds a bit like this. I don't really want to pay to pay online for a game I have already bought.
I don't know what it is about the "Xbox live system" everyone likes. I bought Halo 2 for the PC and for its online system it used "Xbox Live." It was the single most annoying thing to get working EVER. And then I get on and find it just has a **** ton of hackers. Yeah...I see nothing great about that system. Not to mention I couldn't even play my game and save my progress unless I was logged into it, so if I lose internet while playing single player, I suddenly can't go on? So dumb.
I believe the online system for PC games is Windows Live. Basically Xbox Live but on the computer but it can cross platform chat. As far as I know, its free. However, some games require you to be logged in before you can play, ex Dawn of War II. This pisses me off to no end.
Windows live for me on PC was horrible. So many problems to actually get to play a game. So now I go with steam. Same thing and the steam itself is free.
