Spike Jones deconstructed songs and put them back together in hilarious ways from the 1920's to the 50's. If I need a laugh, I just put in a tape of him. Have you ever heard someone gargle the William Tell Overture?! Or use a gun as a musical instrument? Or end an opera with a belch? If not, you are really missing out!

He's an interesting fellow, and quite eccentric for his time. His music certainly has to be the only recorded music from that time period that uses fart sounds as sound effects.

He has to be one of the most original musicians in musical history, even though it's virtually impossible to take him seriously.

That's no sound effect, that's a custom instrument called the Birdaphone (from an alternate name of the Raspberry, Bronx Cheer, etc.).

Definitely. Back in the day, you weren't considered a hit unless Spike Jones deconstructed one of your songs and injected some insanity.
