If this happens I don't think it will be too soon. Rush fans mostly already know Dream Theater, and I'm guessing DT want to expand their fanbase with non prog bands. That's probably why they're going with Trivium this tour.
...with that said, an Opeth/Porcupine Tree/Dream Theater/ Rush Big Four concert would be awesome.
That would be effing awesome! Two progressive rock titans on tour together. Both full of incredibly talented musicians, incredibly long, odd-metered songs, and two apparently great live shows. I've never seen Dream Theater live. I've heard stories though, nothing but stories on how incredible of an experience it is. Rush the same way.

Tool should be on that tour too! They're progressive metal. Basically Dream Theater's metal counterpart is the way that I like to describe them.

I don't like Tool that much (only Lateralus), but I guess they would fit very well in the bunch. It would be more a moving festival than a tour though.

Tool is too awesome to be on a tour with a crappy band like DT. Yea, they're all incredible musicians, but their music is extremely boring and barely has any progressive elements to it. Opeth, PT, Tool, and Rush would be great together.

They have plenty of progressive elements and aren't boring at all, but whatever. Anyhow, I find Tool extremely boring out of Lateralus.
the only downside to tool is that a lot of there music sort of sounds the same after awhile. and this is coming from me, a huge tool fan with all their albums, so believe me i know. DT has always evolved in sound and is DEFFINATLY progressive lol. rush has always been amazing and most of you know how big of a fan i am of them. but ya i feel like DT will go on a huge prog tour anyways, and it would only be fitting if rush was going. i just have a hunch. rush and DT
Grrrrrrrrrr I was in the mall today at Target and I saw Moving Pictures for only $5 and I DIDN'T BUY IT! Classic album with three classics, at least. Tom Sawyer, self explanatory. YYZ, instrumental progressive masterpiece with crazy drums and bass, and guitar. Limelight, not a HUGE fan of, but it's played on the radio a lot and it's apparently really good. I mean, it's alright, but... Tom Sawyer and YYZ are incredible. I also like 2112. I really like songs that are over 15 minutes long, like 2112, Octavarium, a Nightmare to Remember, yeah.
bro portnoy left a while ago. mike mangini is now the drummer and i got to say, listening to their new album, which by the way came out yesterday, he was a very good replacement

Mangini played masterfully. Especially on Breaking All Illusions and Bridges in the Sky. I love the new album.
It seems to me that Portnoy won't be missed. At all.
to an extent. IMO i think portnoy wrote some pretty good lyrics. not as good as moore back in the day, but it was always a nice break from JP lyrics when he did. he was a very very key part to the writing process and producing of DT stuff.
and honestly, i feel like this album wasnt mixed perfectly. that was one of MP's best features in making albums like scenes from a memory, he mixed the album to PERFECTION. and that is the only problem i see in this album, but its not a HUGE difference. its just when you are so used to something so **** near perfect, you notice when its anything less.
my favorite song EASILY though is Lost Not Forgotten. (p.s. check out the song of the week, it will be up shortly

Pettrucci's lyrics are fine in this album, but I did prefer some of MP's. And the writing part in this album seems good to me. I really liked the album.

This, I can't argue against. Scenes from a Memory is absolutely perfect, and I wasn't really expecting them to surpass it. The mix isn't bad though, if not perfect. It kind of resembles Images and Words.

Bridges in the Sky, Outcry and Breaking All Ilussions are my favorites so far. Lost Not Forgotten's chorus is awesome though.
