Release is October 25 in north america and Oktober 27th in Europe!!! What do you think about this game? thoughts? comments? will it destroy CoD? why or why not? let the posting begin!
I'm going to buy it, I love Battlefield. How much a game sells doesn't determine how good it is though, I couldn't care less about how many games CoD sells, as long as Battlefield 3 is good.
COD and Battlefield are 2 totally different type of games, everybody seems to forget that! Battlefield is based on realism. CoD is more of an arcade game. I play both, like both, but CoD is more of a game you can pick up and play a couple of games. Battlefield games are sometime 15-30 minutes long, and you'll barely level up, that's also why it's less adicting than CoD. Because when you level in COD you get a good feeling, but it takes way too long to level in Battlefield IMHO (no I don't think you should level every game!). I think Battlefield is gonna be an excellent game, but CoD sells more.
Here's the thing that I like, the consistent "Legitimacy" EA has had with this title. It always seems like they keep giving out more and more information than well, is useful. We'd like an achievement list or a gun list, EA gives us facts that "NEVER pay online excluding DLC" or "Our game will always play in xyz Frames" yadda yadda yadda. I've also noticed that EA always starts their Gameplay videos with "Actual Gameplay Footage". Hm. Makes me wonder about all those MW3 trailers...
EA's taking two releases, Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3, VERY seriously, and I think that the two games' quality are all the better for it.

You forget FIFA 12 and the upcoming Star Wars MMO.
But I have played every Battlefield game and this is the 1st one I am not going to buy just because FPS games don't satisfy and challenge me enough. But the tank gameplay still looks good and i think it will be a nice game.
Honestly, there's nothing wrong with CoD. It's just not my type of FPS. I spent a long time trying to get better at CoD, but when I first played Battlefield I was good at it and I loved it, it's just my type of play style. It's like music, it's just what you prefer.
It won't destroy CoD because CoD has to many fans and it has just sold 1.25 miljoen copies.
This. For a quick run through:
Honestly, there's nothing wrong with CoD.
Hit registration, balance issues, skillcap, lack of mods. Four things with the first two that shouldn't be in any game, the third shouldn't be in a Triple A and the fourth is just plain stupid to leave out - especially when they have already done it.

Battlefield certainly has a higher skillcap, although it may just be your playstyle that was restricting you on CoD, I don't know.
It's like music, it's just what you prefer.
Even that I could argue against. People without a wide sense of music are annoying to me, if they need to stick with death metal or solid rock or something. I go for whatever works - I'm a fan of Globus, but that doesn't stop me from listening to anyone else if I wanted to. I don't judge by genre - I judge by the quality, that stands for movies, games and music ^^
To summarize: Battlefield 3, if it lives up to its promises and of course is as good quality as the famous Battlefield 2 will certainly be nothing short of astonishing, but I'm not expecting anything beyond that. - H
Battlefield try's so hard to keep its gameplay original and it uses so many new concepts with each game. while COD is the same game after game after game. And if thats not enough for you. FROSTBITE 2!!!
Destroy CoD? Hell no, way to many fans, inlcuding myself. But i love battlefield. Ive been playing BC2 lately not sure why i didnt play it more. Im jacked for BC3 and MW3, gameplay is just so different, theyre not really comparable
