Whenever I turn on the computer and boot up the internet and go to google chrome I get this message in a blue box that says "a new version of avast is available". First does anybody else get this message and secondly is it safe? Usually if my version is out of date it updates automatically.
I would go to avast and try to update it in avast. if it updates then it should clear your message. i would never trust anything that appears on the internet. You own program should tell you in its own usual way.

I never trusted Avast from the start so I can't really help you if you already have it, I would suggest to go on the program and update it that way though.
It is perfectly safe. The blue box, in the righthand corner is the update box, just like the green is successful semiupdate and so on. But if you feel paranoid, do as explained. Locked as answered.
