The thread name is a question for a reason.

The answer is not as obvious as it appears.

I was reading a government book and I have determined that the Teaparty (and the Republican Party) are anti-federalist.

I'm not trying to be a troll, but it is the truth. This is more of a history-related question.

If you get the statement, you did your homework!

Well, the farthest extremist left is pure socialism and full government control. The farthest extremist right is anarchy. The TEA party is quite far to the right, so this makes sense.

course it does, but at the moment there is nothing you can really do about it. the tea party is just another radical group that is kind of like a childs phase, people will get over it eventually.

The TEA Party is comprised of people who want to return the government to its rightful place, i.e. very small. The original reason for the government to exist was to establish basic guidelines like the Constitution and to provide for the defense of the nation. Everything else is supposed to be left up to the states and the people.

Then I have to wonder where were these tea partiers when Bush was busy trading off our freedom?

You determined that all by your lonesome? What black magic and sorcery is this?

This is a "No ****, Sherlock" moment. Congratulations.

You don't disagree with a guy on your side. The left was doing that well enough while the right was worshiping Bush. Notice how today, with Obama, a left leaning man, as the president, the right is bashing him and the left isn't. [warning: generalization, don't take that specifically]

Yeah I do here people on the left bashing him. If someone on your side is screwing you over, why not disagree with them?

Since no one got really got the point/joke of my opening post, here's the link.

An Anti-Federalist is someone who believes in small government. They argue more for states rights.

Obviously, Federalism won over the Anti-Federalist movement.

The joke in all of this is that if a political candidate called the Teaparty "Anti-Federalists," he or she would commit political suicide. People would take it as "traitors" or "extremists." Depending on your political view, those terms could be accurate.

They're probably the most extremist political group in the US today. However, if 0 is full communist, 8 or 9 is standard democrat, 10 is neutral, 11 or 12 is standard republican, 20 is anarchist, the Tea Party is about a 14 or 15. They're not quite as radical as they could be.

Well... yeah, I think that's their point. When they say they want to go back to the Constitution, they don't literally mean the Constitution. They want the Republican Party of the early 1800's. Why I don't know. It didn't really work as well as a Federal government.
