Nintendo has garnered near-perfection status in its video-game crafting over the 20-odd years its been involved in the industry. Sure, most kids in their double-digit ages will recognize a picture of the Master Chief, and not a lot less will recognize the Ghost of Sparta, Kratos, but from the oldest of the old to the youngest of the young knows the face of Mario, Nintendo's oldest and greatest. Nintendo's journey seems to be that of a tragic hero though.

Many years ago the industry was graced with the mighty plumber of the NES, and so Nintendo was baptized in pixels. It was able to easily do away with the likes of Mattel and Coleco, and dueled with Atari for some years and emerged from the great video game crash of 1983 while its rival Atari did not.

Years later Nintendo re-commenced battle with a new foe, SEGA. Throughout various consoles and bit-eras, Sonic and Mario clashed again and again, until a new opponent rose on the horizon, a spiky-haired orange bandicoot. Sony had entered the console wars with the show-stopping Playstation, a console that halted the N64's and the Saturn's sales figures. And still, Nintendo lived on with the Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, and a bear and his friend bird.

Time passed, and when SEGA tried again to retake a stance on the console wars, another opponent ripped them in half and tea-bagged their corpse. Microsoft's Xbox had come to face off against the sales-titan Playstation 2 and the quirky new Nintendo child, the Gamecube.

And still, Nintendo lived on.

Through ICO, through the Conker remake, through the first Call of Duty, the Gamecube held fast. And so Nintendo fought back, removing the 360 from its early lead in the latest console wars round with the then-revolutionary Wii. The system has been criticized as a kid's console with a lack of good games, but in all honesty, Red Steel 2, MadWorld, SSBB, TLoZ: Twilight Princess, DK Country Returns, Punch Out!, and Mario Galaxy pushed the Wii to compete with the likes of Demon's Souls, Uncharted, Halo, Gears of War, even Twilight Princess had an epic battle against Oblivion for GOTY 2006 that it tragically lost.

The Mighty Mario never grimaced throughout the years, it even had a considerable shot at GOTY 2010 against the like of Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, and Starcraft II, before being shot down by the power of Red Dead: Redemption.

Nintendo isn't just a company anymore, it's a legacy, it's a myth, it's a story that was told in the Halo: CE LAN parties of yesterday. It's the unheard-of 17th Colossus, the one un-beatable faction in Total War, a monument to all the Sins and Glories of the Video Game Industry. The History of Video Games is the history if Nintendo and the few companies that tried to catch some of its glory. The crazy Norwegians at Rovio have no idea what kind of ****-storm they walked into when they made cracks at the titan that is Nintendo.

Best of luck to the Wii U, and best of luck to the 3DS. God bless games, and in saying that, God bless Nintendo.

Nintendo is unbeatable all the new games not made by nintendo are call of duties game just with different stuff. Guess what they stink nintendo is the king of games it will always end up victorius you can't beat it, si call of duty will die and so will the other gun games and nintendo will be the true ruler. I mean I like other games they just have to not be gun games. Games I like that are not made by nintendo:
Arc rise fantasia
Kingdom Hearts
Rondo O Swords
Old final fantasys

The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Batman: Arkham City, Bioshock Infinite, Saint's Row the Third, Ratchet and Clank, Dark Souls, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Diablo III, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3... to name a few...

You went from a chilled-out Nintendo advocate to a frothing fanboy pretty quickly there, oish.

On top of that, you say that all other games released are "call of duties game just with different stuff"... how vague, yet you fail to notice the fact that Nintendo barely moves outside "Mario-Pokemon-Zelda-Metroid-Kirby-Donkey Kong" release patterns, barely any quality third-party titles can make their way to the Nintendo consoles, Red Steel 2 and MadWorld being the two key 3rd-party titles that made their way onto the Wii. Don't call the kettle black, oh mighty pot.

Guess what they stink

Let's see, Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto IV, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Portal 2, and Shadow of the Colossus are a collection of games from this generation (SotC was just re-released, it counts) that are considered the best of the best. Only two Nintendo games are up there alongside these titles, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. YES, Nintendo has some of the best 1st-party titles out there, but compared to some of the other games that have recently released, Red Dead: Redemption, Uncharted 2, Fallout 3, Bioshock, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and most recently, Bastion, Nintendo's strict 1st-party lineup just can't hold up.

nintendo is the king of games it will always end up victorius you can't beat it

That's two counts of redundancy within one sentence, a heavy grammatical and logical miss-step there. And didn't I mention above that Sony beat Nintendo in two different console generations pretty heavily? Even Microsoft was able to usurp the Gamecube with the Master Chief donning the Xbox.

call of duty will die and so will the other gun games and nintendo will be the true ruler

And what's with this hate against "Gun games"? I guess you're referring to First and Third person shooters, the Gears of War and Killzones that grace the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I have my other quarrels with Call of Duty in another thread that I won't get into right now, but in all honesty, up to a point, Call of Duty was a pretty awesome World War 2 series that peaked when it first emerged as a modern shooter, then kinda stagnated there. Even if not Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, Killzone, Metal Gear Solid, Crysis, Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto, Saint's Row, Just Cause 2, all of these games have rich experiences, immersive worlds, and grand stories to tell that the Wii never got to tell because of a few technological grievances.

And what's with the "Nintendo will be the true ruler" thing? Nintendo is at this point, the World War II veteran Grandfather that can spurt some pure genius at one point, then just soil himself at another, but at the same time, you respect him because of all that he's seen and done and accomplished.

I mean I like other games they just have to not be gun games.

Y U NO LEIK FPS/3rdPS??? I mean, HALO! The UTMOST EXAMPLE of a good FPS with a beautifully crafted story that has captivated millions over the course of a decade! A sci-fi epic that deals with betrayal, heroism, and has all ties in and out of religion and ancient cultures!

Old final fantasys

at least you're sane in THAT department...

Nitpick here I know, but I find it kind of saddening how the No More Heroes series is barely mentioned for the Wii. Sure they came out for the PS3 but they were originally on the Wii for a while, more popular on that console too.

I can understand your rage at his lack of valid logic, but please understand that the internet isn't full of gewd gramarz, AG included. I'm also aware that you're an Xbox 360 Fanboy (Your understanding of Nintendo's legacy is appreciated, however), but try to refrain from flaming those who are merely stating an opinion as honest as they can. Not trying to start an argument here, just rather not have people yelling at each other because someone said the name of a company others may not favor.

My brother brought a 3DS some months ago, he is waiting for the new Mario Kart 3D. The 3D effect is so "real". But 3DS is not a success, yet. But i think it's going to be!

I love Nintendo! I'm really excited for luigi mansion 2 to come out! The thing about nintendo is that some game series are really good but then like all other games sucks. One of my favorite game that Nintendo made was mario series, link series, and sometimes pokemon series. Overall though Nintendo is awesome!

I hope so too bro-ham. I REALLY want that thing to succeed, but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't, that just means that I know to buy the Vita instead.
