Err. Wikipedia, bro. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in a deity, and that includes most (if not all) religions.
The Atheist you refer to simply does not believe in a God, including Poseidon, Thor, Loki, Odyn, Poseidon, Zeus, Kronos, Gaia, Theia, Ra, Osiris, Ammunet, Horus, and etc.
Well I want to learn here its more honest because on Wikipedia, anyone can put anything they want anytime ok...
Dictionary.com: Atheist: "a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings." What more are you hoping to learn?

You said Poseidon twice. I guess they really don't believe in him.
Dude those are Greek and Egyptian gods, i dont think anyone believes in those much anymore these days
Yeah I know, but it's still true. I was just half-joking ^^

Posts on Wikipedia seem amazingly impartial considering that anyone can edit - we can't give an unbiased opinion on it, the facts are on the page ^^
That about sums it up.
Loosely, that sums it up. A strict form of "Atheism" (so it says) is the belief that a deity is not real, rather than the lack of a belief that one is real.

That depends on who is defining it, no? My dictionary says otherwise. My usage says otherwise.
What your talking about is more of the gnostic atheism (as it is called), as apposed to agnostic atheism, the "we can not know" wimps. Same thing goes for theism really, with the gnostic and agnostic, but we are not attempting to confuse him, so why not just leave it at lacking believe?
What 314d1 said here is all there is to it. If you have a religion that doesn't hold a belief in any gods, that's an atheistic religion, so it doesn't mean "lack of belief in religion" though many don 't hold any religion. Now we can expand on the definition with modifying words agnostic (weak) atheism and gnostic (strong) atheism. an agnostic or weak atheist (which most are) claims to not believe in any god/s since there is insufficient evidence (a lack of knowledge) supporting the claim. While a gnostic or strong atheist claims to definitively know there is no such thing as god/s.
a- prefix; without, not theist; belief in a god or gods atheist; without belief in a god or gods
Because it isn't everyones interpretation. Often people consider Atheism more than just the lack of belief, of course I think it's the lack of belief but you and I do not account for the human population ^^
Like Isaac Asimov said, it is kind of wrong to name yourself an atheist, because it tells what you don't believe in, instead of telling what you do believe in.

if most people around me had blond hair would it be wrong for me to describe my self as the guy who doesn't have blond hair?
