I high elo player on EU-servers. I think that RIOT is still much work on the project. DotA is a card, bot for game of this magnitude single card is not enough.
He is great, (i brought him the first day) he is not good at melee, but..you know..he is a mage. LoL Update: Even more, Free To Play champions. (when will it stop?)
I've heard it said that LoL is a wee bit unbalanced? idk, some one said Ash, and a few casters are OP. Don't get me wrong, HoN has balance issues too, quite a few heroes need a small buff here and there (and then theres a couple that are downright unusable, like, seriously. Never seen in competitive play...ever. :3 ), and a couple are a little more powerful than the others if played right. I'm hoping its not as unbalanced as I've heard it made out to be.
The biggest thing in LoL that throws me off is the game speed. Maybe its just me being used to HoN but when I watch LoL played it takes SO LONG to walk anywhere, even with boots. I'm guessing the champions are all fairly durable, I see people with around 200-300 hp and still sticking around the turret and somehow defending it while being outnumbered. In HoN if you have low hp some one is gonna run up and nuke yo face (a lot of the nukes do around 200-300 damage) If fed (or farmed, or if your team combo's their spells eventually you can take people out in less than 2 seconds.
One thing though that really confuses me in LoL; I see a people casting area spells (3-4 inch circles on my 1600x900) all over the place all the time and I cant tell what they do. I know of a few DOTA heroes, and a lot of the HoN heroes are ports. Are any of the LoL heroes DOTA ports? If so, please tell me which are which. (especially if they have Faceless Void in LoL, he's my favorite in HoN [Chronos] even though he's a bit underpowered right now, Q_Q )
