Seriously, they've never done it. Half Life 2 Episode 3 anyone?
Also, Left 4 Dead 2 came out right after 1, but it doesn't look like they plan on making a 3. And no signs of a TF3, not that it's needed.

Main point: Discuss games that are taking/have taken way too long to make.

they really worked hard with TF2 story and whatnot, i doubt they'll make another, unless it's campaign based, that would be cool

but i doubt it, they haven't even made meet the pyro yet, and i really want to see that

Yeah, I was just using it as an example that Valve can only count to 2. They update it so much, they won't have to release another for a while.

well do you want 20 different games, which all are slightly different, or a few games that are heavily updated

It kinda makes me laugh, because they definitely left Portal 2 with nowhere to go, at least where it stood in the solo campaign.

They did that with the first one too until they changed the ending to prepare for portal 2.

I sure the hell hope they release a third one of every game they've made because they're all mind blowingly amazing.

Its so true that valve never make games ending in 3 I was looking forward to a L4D 3 but it doesn't look like it will happen

They will make Half Life 3. Episode 3 will never exist. There will only be Half Life 3. And when it comes out, it will be the game you'll tell your grandkids about.

Why? Because almost every game, except maybe Portal, that Valve made after Half-Life 2 was a test to their Source engine. They are editing their current engine, not starting from scratch. Every test that they do that is significant is released in a game. So if L4D and Portal are as awesome as they are, then Half Life 3 will be the best thing... ever.

That's what we thought with portal, but look what an extra five seconds can lead too!

and on a completely different note:
For every fat joke you make of Gabe Newell, he delays Half Life3

Yeah... Portal 2 definitely isn't going anywhere.

Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead tests of the Source engine? Psh.

There's been so many, I think it's been delayed for eternity.

With TF2 being the pinnacle of online multiplayer... what else is there to do?

^ Cater to their fans who prefer single player. Especially the Half Life fans.

I mean what else is there to do for TF2.. and it sounds like Portals done. But I have never played Half-Life, so I cannot speak for that.

They'll release Episode 3 and TF3 and Portal 3 all in the Orange Box 2-- no, 3, which is coming the day after Duke Nukem Forever 2 is released

It's weird, because Valve makes epic games, but by the second one, they've perfected it, unlike Assassin's Creed, CoD, Halo, etc.

I think that's a cool thing. The other games play chance with success every time they come out with a new game.

I think in most cases developers make new games when they have new mechanics and a longer story to tell. DLC doesn't necessarily need new mechanics or a super long story. We should be glad valve isn't pushing out games like activision, but I agree it would be nice for more of valve's games to hit the trilogy mark.
