An assasination plot funded by Iran to take out the Saudi diplomat to the US, was thwarted by US intelligence and criminal officials. Do you think this might be the spark that sets the powder keg alight, and brings on another war? Or do you think that there will just be sanctions that are completely ineffective at bringing down the Iranian economy?
At least it was prevented. If stuff happened it would likely lead to war. I really hope people don't start with the "conspiracy theories" because if the US government really wanted to start something, they would've let it happen. Now it will just mean tighter sanctions.
Here's some new details. Apparently, the Iranian government and/or Iranian terrorists hired at least one member of the Mexican drug cartels to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the U.S. and blow up two embassies, the Israeli and one other from the Middle East.
Had this attack gone through, it would have been an act of war on American soil and would likely have led to an invasion of Iran. Since it was prevented, it is as yet unknown what the repercussions will be against that regime. However, and this is only my opinion, due to the fact that the Mexican cartels are now obviously linked to terrorists and/or a hostile government, that may provide sufficient grounds for including them in the War on Terror and subsequently sending military forces to the border region and possibly into Mexico itself in order to hunt them. It will be interesting to see what all comes of this.
