Spiral chamber is part of the offensive equipment section I think. Frozen Death can not be obtained, it is only available at that one campaign level. I think the Ice Hunter is supposed to be similar to it though so you can get that instead.
Special conditions, that's how campaign mode works sometimes. Its just like the zombie effect from the last level of the human campaign. Or the alien campaign level where you are in the shipyard with the acid hounds.

Level 14 on alien campaign, and in my opinion it's an okay gun but your better off with a rocket launcher or holy grail.
I can't use rocket launcher in the level 14, I can only use another gun... why?
Okay, let me break it down for you. First, "Frozen Death" is basically the alien's name for the Ice Hunter, so the two are in fact the same weapon. The Ice Hunter can be purchased in the "Upgrades" menu under "Weapons." Second, all of the weapons are broken down into categories, like sidearms, automatics, close range, explosive and so on. You can only equip one weapon from each category at a time. In the alien level 14, the Ice Hunter, which is in the explosives category, is default equipped, so you can't use the rocket launcher since it is also an explosive. As far as anything else, it doesn't really seek that well and doesn't have as much damage potential, so yes, the rockets are superior.
