But then again there's Midway (Mortal Kombat), Valve (Half Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead ), Sony ( God of War, SOCOM, Crash Bandicoot), and Microsoft ( Gears of War, Halo).
I'm going to make my top 3. Share your thoughts about this 3. 1. Bethesda (Elder Scrolls, Fallout) 2. EA (FIFA, Mirror's Edge) 3. Bioware (Mass Effect, Dragon Age)
EA does fifa so they are pretty high up in my list but i'm going to go with the classic cod fan boy option Infinity ward just because cod is the only game I get pretty much when it comes out
There's a big problem with you guys; can't you understand that given the variety of genres, it's impossible to select a single game company to be the greatest. Of course square won't do the best gun games, but they excel at Rpgs.
I prefer less known, more indy companies; they tend to come up with more original and innovative games to perk up the industry. Here are some of my favorites, along with the games that made them become my favorites.
Nis - Makai kingdom, Phantom Brave, Disgaea 1;2;3;4, all alchemy based games ( atelier iris for example ). Atlus - Nocturne, Baroque and other among the shin megami tensei series, such as Personna, Catherine. Monolith software - Xenosaga 1;2;3, Baten Kaitos Tri Ace Star Ocean til the end of time, Baten Kaitos Sega - That's going to be long, so I'll only point out my most recent Sega games: Yakuza, Bayonetta. Capcom - same as sega, just think about megaman and devil may cry. Sony - Thank you sony Japan for giving us SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS!!
You see, companies are good at different genres of game, hence the impossibility to rank one atop the others.
A lot of companies I like, but I think if I had to pick one company's games to play and that's all I can play (no huge companies like EA or Activision, they don't count) I would have to pick Valve.
I still haven't forgave them for messing up my Farcry 2 experience. But Im gonna be nitpick about Ubisoft and say this....Take away Assassin's Creed, Tom Clancy games, and Prince Of Persia and what do the have? But back on topic I would have to say Valve even though they can't count to three they follow a awesome rule... Quality not Quantity
I'm, tied between four Square Enix for FF series and Just Cause series Interplay for the first fallouts Obsidian and friends for the other fallouts and Valve fore TF2, Spiral Knights, L4D...
They're big too. Actually, they're the biggest thing to a PC gamer.
In all honesty, it seems to be a tie between Bungie, Bethesda, and Blizzard. The "Three B's", if you would, cover all aspects of Gaming, FPS's, consoles, RPG's, RTS's, MMOs, PC gaming, they're all there in extremely high quality.
So amen to The Elder Scrolls, Halo, Fallout, Warcraft, Diablo, Marathon, and Starcraft!
