Hi, I make flash games, I've been doing so for about 1 year and a halve. I'm not really that good but I'm starting to get better, such as getting in the recommended games section of Kongregate ( which requires a rating of 3.50/5.00 or higher.
Anyway, I'm working on a series of games called Ed Snowball Adventures, there will be 3 or 4 games in the series. The first one is basically just an interactive movie, where you choose your own adventure, click on things, and a comedic story unfolds.
Now, I'm working on it' sequel, which is an RPG platformer where the main character ( Ed ) is trying to save up for a ' Darkbox2000 ', the latest video game console. The game is going to have a bit of adult content, but won't pubically display it, so anyone with a thinking brain will understand it.
Examples:
A creepy hobo staring at kids in a playground ( paedophile )
A drug dealer who gives you a quest to give some cocaine to one of his clients ( he calls it ' white sugar ' and Ed falls for it )
Ed, a 4th grader, killing a lot of adults and other kids for absolutely not reason.
So basically, we are looking at Extremely high violence and gore, Drug references and maybe even slight sexual references if anyone realizes that the creppy hobo in the playground is a paedophile.
So would a game like this be aloud on Armorgames, as AG usually has low violence and heaps of 10 year olds come on this site?
I've seen worse here. My only question is why on Earth would you want to make such a game with those kinds of references. Maybe it's just me but personally I don't think peadophilia has anything even remotely comedic about it. The same goes for killing kids.
My advice to you would be this; change some of the content or don't submit it to AG.
Maybe try Newgrounds instead? They have a higher tolerence for violence & sexual content within games. Armor Games seems like a more kid friendly site but I don't know for certain whether or not your game would be allowed.
Armor Games has a lot of non kid friendly content as well. Check the rating on the Dark Cut series. There's also that **** level in The Game and the language options in Rebuild 2.
I've actually been curious about this too. Is there an official stand on the ratings of games? Now and then you'll see sexually provocative images on games, some swear words, sometimes some rather gory imagery, but it seems to have gotten a little more frequent lately. Has the policy been changed? or is it just that game developers are realizing that armorgames doesn't HAVE a policy?
