as an avid gamer on this site (and an austrian, which means i have a german keyboard) i'd like to suggest the following:
if possible, include a button/switch for selecting the keyboard layout, because switching it in the operating system doesn't always work. and sometimes you just have to be quick on the z's and y's, not to mention ergonomics.

Do you mean z and x? The z and y keys are not next to each other on the qwerty keyboard, but z and x are. Also, I use a qwerty, but I don't see anything wrong with selecting controls.
It's possible to switch the keyboard layout in the opperating system. Afterwards, the German QWERTZ - layout will be handled as QWERTY by Windows, but - of course - the letters on the keyboard itself won't change, and it's rather frustrating to work with a keyboard with letters different to the output when typing.
well, i know that. and no, i haven't thought that physically changing the keys will work. my problem is, that for some games the change in the operating system doesn't work, means i change QWERTZ to QWERTY, but the game doesn't react to that. therefore, a possibility to change in-game would be rather brilliant!
