The number of repetitions depends on the event in question. In the case of world war, I think this has happened at least 3 times (Napoleonic wars and the 2 world wars). Other events have repeated themselves a different number of times.

If we're counting large-scale conquests, look at the extent of the Persian Empire 2500 years ago. That was over 1000 years before gunpowder was even invented.

I'm talking about large-scale wars, not large empires. However, there may be a large-scale war associated with the Persian Empire.

I really don't think it is possible to pinpoint the number of times history has repeated itself, just due to the sheer amount of time over which history has been recorded.
I am not talking about your life i am talking about the history of the world. In school I learn history not because it is an important part of our culture but because I can learn from the past mistakes that other countrie's have made.
