Lately, I've been playing a few third person view games on PC (as my 360 is broken) and I've found them to be very unsatisfying. I'm curious as to what other people think about it.
Third person isn't even a genre, you can have a 3rd person game in almost any genre. Also between genres, it rarely has the same use. 3rd person shooting games aren't to popular in games like COD, more used in games like fallout that combine genres, and then it's sometimes optional. In racing games, 3rd person is essential, because it's extremely difficult to drive in 1st person. It doesn't really make sense how you don't like "3rd person" unless you just keep playing them in a certain genre you don't like.
No one said its a genre... and it is in a way e.g. Third person shooter First person shooter you can class them as genres in a way
I'm said that because he's speaking as if it's a genre, and that he dislikes all games of this genre. It doesn't make sense to dislike a perspective of play if it's use is different in every game.
The best 3rd person game I've played on the PC is Just Cause 2, as opposed to Banjo and Kazooie which was the best console one. Both were good but not because of the system they were on, it would have been the same.
Personally, I think FPS is much better for comps as the mouse feels more like you're aiming it than a bunch of joysticks. Every other type of game is the same regardless of the console/PC.
No, I'm sorry. Perhaps I should clarify. Games like Arkham Asylum and Gears of War. The third person shooters, mostly. It really doesn't feel right with a mouse and keyboard.
I do understand that I can get a controller for the PC, but I just mean that I find it difficult to play with what I have.
Arkham Asylum is an action game and Gears of War is a shooting game, but your point makes a lot more sense now. The only 3rd person game I've played on PC is Just Cause 2, and that game seems to have gotten the controls right.
