Heiskanen uses one of the "repossessed" American bazookas to blow up the infantry support vehicle. Oberfeldwebel, which is equivalent to staff sergeant, I think. The thing is, lieutenants are the junior officers. They get promoted right off, after ROTC or OCS or whatever. It takes a good 6 or 7 years to become a staff sergeant. And if you get promoted after a good long lifetime of service of being an NCO, you get promoted to warrant officer, not to commissioned officer.
