In March of 2011, it had been announced that Black Ops had hit the 13 million unit sold mark, garnering so much profit, it became the best selling game of all time. And now we have Battlefield 3, who, after just one week, hit the 10 million unit sold mark.

So, discuss, do you think that Battlefield 3 will become the next Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, or Black Ops? Or do you think it will have to settle for second place alongside Modern Warfare 3 in terms of sales?

Modern Warfare 3 will have higher sales. It just has a larger fanbase. However unless CoD evolves it's going to eventually lose to Battlefield.

I like the game, it's just so annoying when you die you have to run to the other side of the map just to get shot again and spawning takes ages :P

13 Million after 4-5 months for Black Ops.
10 Million after one week for Battlefield 3.

Hrmm... Not entirely sure honestly - I think Battlefield may reign over Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 this time as quite easily some people could be deterred from buying MW3 since Black Ops was in such a back turn compared to MW2 (but both being equally bad), but it could raise anticipation for having another Quickscope Noscope dominant game.

Battlefield 3 offers something very new, and beyond a doubt people who don't know what either of them are will go for the new stunning, wide-scale and destructible BF3 environment.
They may just win this one, but enough with the theorycraft - I think it will be better than MW3 when it comes out, speaking from experience for the most part.

Yeah but everyone knows that black ops wasn't that great a game, everyone just compared it to MW2 and not a lot of first person shooters have been released since Black ops.

Ahem.

Mindjack
Breach
Crysis 2
Homefront
Duke Nukem Forever
Bulletstorm
Operation Flashpoint: Red River
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
RAGE
Hard Reset
and, oh yea, how could I forget Battlefield 3.

That's twelve FPS' since Black Ops, one for each month!

Call of Duty becomes the same thing year in year out. They need to let other FPS, have a chance and then come back a few years later with some evolotionized material. I think Battlefield will take over sales, but doesn't have a larger fan base. Also I think Halo Combat Evolved Anniversery will take over Cod, records of sold and will come close to Battefield's.

I really don't care about sales, but BF3 will pass Black Ops. But most likely, MW3 will outsell BF3.
