Was not sure where to put this topic, or if there is allready one concerning the subject, and if there is, I apologize in advance for making another new and pointless thread.

Anyways, I was thinking, I've been a member of this site for about a month now, and i've noticed so much terrible grammar and spelling mistakes plastered all over the site, from game descriptions to in game content. And well, I was just wondering if i'm the only one who thinks that games should have to have proper spelling and grammar before being put up on the site for playability.

Not that my grammar and spelling is top notch, but I would like to think that it is better than someone of the most apparent and simple mistakes I see on a daily basis on this website.

It's comes off as sloppy and unprofessional, and reflects poorly on the website itself. If anyone agrees with me please let me know, hopefully the site devs will do something about it if enough of us voice our opinion.

P.S. I'm not sure if they plan to combat this problem on the new AG3 site, and if they do I would be very pleased. Thanks for your time everyone.

Those kinds of mistakes are quite trivial and they don't bother as much as those in the Forums, which to be frank, put me off reading some posts. That said, it would be hard to correct in game mistakes, seeing the games are already up and live.

On the topic of games. Tell the developers of the game, they are pretty much the only ones that can change anything in their game.
Though, only if you feel like being a bit of a grammar/spelling nazi.

I could imagine it being human error combined with staring themselves blind on the project (a horrible thing), or perhaps that the developers are non native English speakers, or simply were never good at the linguistic aspect of making games.

Just wondering, since AG has to approve the game before introducing it, do they tend to spot such mistakes?

I have no idea. If think, if they do and it's isn't a horrible mistake, they might let it slip, otherwise they might count it against the game and not approve it.
As far as I know, the staff doesn't send back feedback as to why a game was rejected (they most likely don't have the time, which is fair enough), so they won't be directly affecting the spelling in a game.

Maybe there should be a spelling and grammar mod. They could go around and edit the stuff in the forums for grammar and spelling. They don't ban or delete comments and stuff, just correct them.

That would encourage laziness. The point of a mod is not for such mundane issues. If a user chooses to write that way, it's his choice, someone else shouldn't clean it up if it's hard to comprehend.

Usually I only tell a user to correct his/her spelling/grammar 1) for a joke or 2) It interferes with my understanding of the text.
I recall that one mod(erator) said that to become a mod u had to correct other user's spelling/grammar or something like that.

Yeah I have never seen a mod correct someone's spelling/grammar

I understand a few grammar mistakes in a flash game, but holy crap, some of the games on this site make me want to puke! I can't remember which, but I remember playing a game on here recently which said "you was died."

That was Gantic, and I'm fairly positive that he was joking.

ArmorGames can't be blamed for the mistakes developers make, and if they started rejecting games based upon spelling/grammar trivialities, then the site would probably be lacking a number of games. I rarely come across huge mistakes like that, and when I do they tend to be in the older games.

It was in the parody guide by Gantic. If you use it as actual evidence and as a guide instead of using your reason and concluding it is a parody and not to be taken seriously, I would want to punch you through the screen. Just saying.

Also, no. Mods don't want to use their free time already littered with other mod work, just to correct other's spelling. We are not grammar nazis, there are no place in the rules that forbids spelling like crap, though you might get the post deleted as spam if it is bad enough, and we have a lot of non-native English speakers that might not be as good at spelling and being grammatically correct as you are.
So, once again for the games, write so in the comments, they might take the advice and make sure their game is spot free next time, for the forums, see above.
