So, Saturday we get an October snowstorm. Wet, heavy snow. Mind you not many leaves have fallen yet. Come Sunday morning, Connecticut looks post-apocalyptic. Trees are down, powers out, power lines all over the place. So our mayor, who thinks he's some kind of god, postpones Halloween to November 5th.

You just described New York.
So our mayor, who thinks he's some kind of god, postpones Halloween to November 5th.
Power over halloween is a power no human should have.
I wasn't planning on trick-or-treating, I was planning on goign ot my friends. We put out a bowl that says "Take one please, or else" And whoever takes more than one gets squirted by me with a water gun. But that's hard to do when there are no kids around.
That sucks. So does postponing of holidays by this all-powerful mayor happen often? And what town do you live in? I imagine it can't be big for the mayor to literally delay a national holiday.
