I really don't know what to say without hurting your feelings. It is obvious you posted this the second it came into your mind. Why, because it doesn't make sense. I understand you probably played Upgrade Complete (I think that's the name) or launcher-style games, but that game is just an Arcade game. Most games require the player to upgrade some part of the game. i.e. there is no way to determine what games would fall under this category. If you are talking about adding a Launcher genre I am for that, but I don't think this is what your idea was.
Well, you have to be more specific about what you want, since ''Upgrade'' Games is rather vague. As Soy mentioned, are they Launcher Games or games that involve upgrading?

I have thought about this more and realized you can't have a genre based on upgrading. Upgrading is a game mechanic. It is like having platforms, jumping, swimming. You can't have a genre about it. You can have a tag for upgrading though.
