So I made a thread at the half-way point of 2011 stating that Uncharted 3, Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim were the big four contenders for the 2011 Game of The Year. Well, some consideration later, and I've narrowed the list down to only two candidates.

In this corner is the game I waited for in 45 minutes of freezing rain next to my good friend and his girlfriend while counting down the return of Alduin to Tamriel, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

..."The ChillzMaster and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" will be released to an Armorgames forum near you soon.

And in this corner, the game that started with Game Informer's "Best Game Ever", the master of Dungeons, Shields, Green Caps, and Master Swords, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

In all honesty, between every game that released this year, there's only these two that can compete with each other. Skyrim is the game that akes Modern Warfare 3 in one hand, Battlefield 3 in the other, then crushes them up in a blender with Crysis 2 and Portal 2, puts them between a slice of Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Saint's Row the Third, and then eats the produced sandwich.

Skyward Sword is the game that beat the living crap out of two of every fighter in Mortal Kombat and Marvel vs Capcom 3, then skinned Arkham City and uses the skin as a coffee coaster for its hot cup of molten D games, Dead Space 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dead Island, and two lumps of Duke Nukem: Forever, before slipping into its Witcher 2 and Shogun: Total War slippers.

(P.S. unrelated, but I was watching X-Play, and in an interview with a dude from Volition for Saints 3, the team member said something around the lines of "We look at what rocked in this game, then see what we can do better for a future Saint's 4. Yea, unofficially, Saint's Row 4 has been announced. B.A.)

But... Skyward Sword's a Wii game...

o.o

In all honesty that actually is the reason I've dismissed Skyward Sword from being the GOTY. However my brother preordered it so I'll check it out.

Never played the Skyward, but i think I'll buy it, so my Wii can actually do what it's supose to do : play Nitendo games.

I finally played Skyrim today and I'm having a hard time to believe that anything will beat it this year or even in the following years.

Notice how your two final games have the word sky in them? Just a unrelated note

I have been playing a decent amount of skyrim. Zelda does look good, yet I do not think it will beat skyrim. There is so much content in skyrim that it can keep you occupied nearly forever.

I just watched the review for Skyrim. It looks like a great game (the opening sentence was something about 100+ hours of play). So if I were to guess what would be the GOTY I would say Skyrim, but I still think I'll like Skyward Sword better (I really like the LOZ series).
