So, I come here with a question of some personal importance. If someone is of above average intelligence does that make those who are of average intelligence stupid? Or does it simply depend upon perspective?
Consider this something along the lines of a philisophical problem in terms of conciousness.

Mmm...sorta. I am quite smart (but then, who doesn't think that?) and I don't look down on people because they don't catch on as quickly or connect what's happening. I think it just depends on one's personality/level of arrogance and the other individual in question.

Well, it's pretty much the same thing here. Just because 1 billion is 1 thousand times larger than one million doesn't mean 1 million is a small figure.
"Quite smart" or average? :P
Quite smart as in I slept through 1:30 of my 1:45 (Hour:minute) classes and was still known as, "That smart kid" and had people coming to me for help. Basically, I sat down, let the teacher show us what we were doing for today, went to sleep, woke up 5 minutes before the end of class, saw what was on the board/caught the end of the discussion and learned more/retained more than almost everyone else in the class. I got mostly A's on the tests (The only times I don't is when I make careless erros, like graphing the wrong problem or not checking the backs of pages) and yet got D's-C's in most of my classes because I didn't do the homework/participation in class.
So...make of that what you will.

Well, half of the world has below average intelligence (obviously), and because half of the world is above the average, i wouldn't call all of them smart. You would have to be well above average to be considered smart. Anyone near the average would be called average. Anyone well below it would be called stupid. Really, Kasic kind of summed this up in a sentence
"No, those of average intelligence are well, average. Derp "

If most people are below average wouldn't that make them of the average intellect since they represent the general person?
Its all about perspective average intelligence refers to basically the intelligence level of most people, or a high majority of people. Average intelligence cant really be defined as a variable depending on the country you are thinking of. An example of this would be say a person in the United States who is considered of average intelligence If they were In lets say Japan they would most likely be considered unintelligent, but if that same person was in a third world country where schools are pretty much non existent and education is overlooked that person would be considered a genius.
Technically an intelligent person is different than a smart person. heres is what I mean If we think of intelligence as the capacity of our brains smartness would be the art of filling it.
As my old L.A. teacher said everyone is intelligent but not every one is smart. In other terms Intelligence could be considered a bookshelf were smartness would be filling that bookshelf with books ( the books represent knowledge).
So the question is are we talking about being intelligent or being smart here.

no1 can know evrything. you can be smart on 1 topic and stupid on the other.
also is above averager in africa just normale in other countryd due to beter schooling.
and alot of those realy smart people in history, that we all know from all kinds of inventions and theorys. usualy had a form of autism (wich is a brain disorder) wich made them able to think beter but less good social. sometimes even freaky.
so above average intelligents is only relative. and when your realy smarten then the rst. then some other personal skills will probably drop.

No. Refer to above. Both are, in this example, the book shelf. Knowledge/education are the books filling the bookshelf.

No...you're confusing intelligence with education. The whole western world (Why not East? It's a sphere after all...) has the same average intelligence as any other country. It may have more (or less) above/below people due to larger populations, but the same average.

thats not how i see it.
i can't compare congo whit a average age of 17 year and barly any education. whit countrys whit a average age of 40 and education untill atleast 16 year.
i can not and i will not compare those 2 whit eatchother on the subject intelligents.

thats why it's generaly called the western world.
the asian map (less used) shows america on the right. because asia is the middle. only here it's not in the west.

You're looking at EDUCATION. On average, of any country, in any part of the world, the average IQ, AKA, INTELLIGENCE (IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient) is 100, which is the equivilant of someone's potential to LEARN, not what they have been taught.

I know why it's called it, it just doesn't have any more valid a point to it than calling it East. If you go from anywhere on the earth, you can get to the other side by going either east or west, so it's stupid to refer to it as a direction.

No, it doesn't, for two main reasons.
On a large scale, the average IQ is the average, which is 100.
IQ is just potential essentially.
IQ says nothing. 1 time i get 96 then the other time 120. and after a bit of training on how the questions are ask/done i could even get a 138.
IQ = BS
