How do you add friends, you mean? Next to the 'About' section on a user's profile there will be a button that says 'Add Friends'.
It looks like this:

Sure, that works if you know your friend's exact username, but there should be a feature where you can search for users, maybe by email, or by birthday.

It's most likely that this will be added in AG3.
