I remember it - one of the best old-school RTS ever, I think. It is sad, they do not remake that game. Egyptians had the most beautiful architecture to me.
Me and my friend used to play it via LAN - once we waged our war so longб that we did not noticed the dawn. I missed the school that day, but I thought my parents would kill me.

Till i completed 12, i was obsessed by the series. I completed all of them till age of empires 3. My fave one is age of mithology, wich i p,layed with the nordics...
wow i loved the game finished it three times !! what a game it was ... arkantoos ! helena ! ajax still love them the second age of mythology was better !! ...
I have played the game and it is quite fun, I actualy bought it in a pack that came with rise of nations (both had the expansion packs) and I still play both of them
perfect game but a graphic upgrade and editor fixes will be good. In editor I did some maps but npc intelligence level is too low
If you really wanted a challenge there is a option where you could edit the code of the game.
I love that game! One of my favourites. I used to have it but my dad removed the program and i could not reinstall it becuz i lost the key code and i cant buy the game again becuz i cant find it anywhere and whenever i try dowwnloading it from the internet it never works.
I loved AoM and AoE2 they were the best games of thier time I spent hours on them but they desperatly need updating so the graphics are better and smoother
The graphics is hardly a problem, even for Age of Empires II. I feel the units handle much better than in Starcraft 1 when they move, and Starcraft 1 is an eSport in Korea, as well as subject to my use of examples many a time.
Age of Mythology was great, I went to fairly large extent to learn triggers just because others I already had were very basic (setting technology including age), and this really broadened what I could do. Continual raids from the forest? More interesting. The ability to lay siege on enemies with the siege equipment being provided over time? Definitely interesting.
Or you just make every Age4 with the necessary upgrades, give them 1 income of food, wood and gold each (which accumulates to thousands in very little time) and a few military production buildings in a Neutral City. There you go -- you've got a battle ground.
Hell, you could even make a form of DOTA I would think. One of the problems I always had however was making units from thin air and then through triggers making them go somewhere -- you could actually make a DOTA in that scenario.
This is a great game. I hate how Titans can not walk across water though. Plus half the time I would just start using cheat codes to win the campaign because it is so long.
