Hi everybody! So last night my grandpa and I were talking about science. We were talking about the fact that sense light can only travel so fast and sense there's such a massive distance between earth and the sun that when you look at the sun your actually looking at how it was 7 minutes ago because it takes the light 7 minutes to get to earth. He also told me about how there is a spaceshuttle that can look so far away that they can actauly almost see the begining of time because the light from it is just now getting to that point. So I came up with an idea. So let's say you could somehow move faster than the speed if light. Let's say you started at the point were the beginimg of time was and you started moving away at after than the speed of light. If you caught up to the light from the biging of time could you see the the past (or at least the light from the past)? And sence it would be light could you make a shadow in it? Thus making a shadow in time?
Then there's really nothing to discuss. The statement is unfalsifiable, because it can't happen. It's like discussing "if the moon was made of cheese..." or "if space was jell-o instead of a vacuum..."
A lot of ideas have a lot of ifs in them like scientists big ban theory... But just like the big bang theory there's plenty of room for conversation and discussion about this topic.
if we use the word IF so badly then evrything is possible. hack even god can be real of we use the word IF.
Really? Why Does it always have to be about god with you people.

just a example. take anything els that didn't happen, isn't real or is wrong in some way. and you can make it all right, whit IF story's.

but we are talking about science. in science it's not a "if" that the speed of light is the max speed. (untill recent. it might be 0,000000001 faster. (1/million)) the speed of light is not a theory like the big bang is. in evolution you also don't hear any "if storys" anymore. because it's no longer a theory.

Well what if you could almost move as fast as light and you started moving before the light did and then it caught up with you, could you make a shadow in time?

As a fallacy is required to make the statement, it must be regarded as true.
Actually, if you were already moving slower than light (almost as fast is irrelevant), you wouldn't make a shadow until the light hit you anyway. So no.

... your answer contradicts its self. you say you will make a shadow-
you wouldn't make a shadow until the light hit you anyway

Besides for what EP said
You won't make an early shadow because light would still be moving faster. You'd still make a normal shadow.
a shadow is created at the time light hits something and goes around it. just stand while the sun shines and you see your shadow. if you move, the shadow moves, too, as long there is enough light to "create" a shadow. so, if someone could run at light speed, he/she would be as fast as light and not faster. does this mean he/she would run next to the light? or with it?

If a person was at the speed of light, did the photons already hit them and make a shadow before they got up to speed? Or were they at speed before the source was on? If they were at the speed of light where the light was already making a shadow, the light ahead of them would still make a shadow. If they went any faster than light, the shadow would recede. If they speed up and then the source is turned on, the light would be behind them and no shadow would be created. If an object went the same speed as light at the exact source point of the light, the light would hit them, but no shadow would be created.
Think of it like passing cars. If car 1 (light) started before you at a set speed, then car 2 (object) at the same speed would still be behind car 1. If car 2 goes first, then car 1 can't catch up at the same speed. If they both go at the same time from the same point at the same speed, they're right next to each other.
