so flash is starting to die a bit. windows 8 will no longer support flash (you can still use the player but they just don't support it), and apple doesn't support it either. and adobe went out recently and said flash will no longer be on mobile browsers after flash player 11.
and the replacement will pretty much be html 5 (because of the canvas tag) so to my question....
will armorgames start allowing us to upload html 5 games?
The rumor that Windows 8 will not support flash is a lie. The version of Internet Explorer to be released with Windows 8 will still support flash.... No need for alarm.
Since Windows is the dominating Operating system on the market today, the worry of Apple not supporting flash is small (less then 14% of consumers use MacOS X to Windows 84%).
There is no need for concern as far as Mobile users, as it is just as easy to get on your computer rather you phone in the event that Adobe does cancel support for Mobile Operating Systems.
Adobe has announced that they are developing Flash player to support HTML5.
ok but could armorgames still have an upload section for html5?
because it doesn't require a very expensive program, it could attract a whole new crowd of programmers, and armorgames being one of the first websites to support it could really benefit the website
Anyways, no OS supports flash, because flash just doesn't work that way (there's a reason you need to download flash player).
And as stated above, IE will support it, and if it doesn't, then who cares, it's a terrible browser anyways. You can just use chrome or FF.
I do agree that game sites should start supporting HTML5, the thing is, it's fairly new. While it looks promising, it may turn out to be a waste of time and money developing a method to allow people to submit games made with it. AG in particular doesn't have the time with their new website and the such.
in order for flash to work the browser has to use an external plugin so it can read flash. html 5 (well the canvas tag) does not use the plugin so the browser does not have to go through that and isnt process intensive.
along with actionscript was derived from javascript and shows great promise (considering its been around for 16 years and nothing has replaced it yet).
the biggest thing is the canvas doesn't require the extra processes of plugins cause its browser based.
once someone comes out with a program that is as good flash but for programming in html 5 instead, it will probably replace flash. (for the game developing side anyways)
Haha.. xD You can just downloade the flashdriver -_-'' - But yea.. except from that ? Facebook doesn't allow you to use flash, so maybe you are right ?
the reason for the change is because of the flash driver. having those drivers slow down the browser because it has to read the driver to understand the code. kindve like reading a book in coded language and u have to use a sheet to understand it.

Ahh, but most developers I know/seen/heard of will use OSX!
