I think that chess is a sport but most people don't. Do you?

Cough...I do competitive swimming in the past, it is a sport, not just an exercise!

Personally I don't think it's a sport, but the Olympic Committee does....

I'm just waiting for when they consider Jenga or Starcraft a sport. Starcraft is extremely competitive and it does involve hours of training for serious gamers in Korea. They even host contests that attract crowds bigger than Superbowl.

It is more of a mental exercise than a sport.
Personaly I dont consider anything sport unless it involves sweating and increased heart rate.

Chess isn't a sport. It doesn't matter if it is broadcasted on TV, so is Poker and I don't think many people count that as a sport.

Official it is a sport, but I don't recognize it as a "sport" sport but a thinking thing.

No, it's not a sport. I went to wiki on chess and it says this on the first sentence.

Chess is a two-player board game played on a chessboard.

Chess is a game. A great game sent to us from the game gods of our ancestors. But there is no way I will agree that is is a sport. It can be competitive. But so can getting a shower at the Y.
