oh yeah i forgot to say which one i always choose:
charmander cindyquill (idk how to spell it. i play the german versions of pokemon) mudkip the penguin (i forgot his name in english... again i only play the german versions...)
i chose everytime the water starter pokemon because it can learn ice ray and thats effective against plant-type pokemons. or fire if it can learn thunder punch.
Even if it's not a Kanto game I will import a Charmander. There's a reason Charizard won IGN's #1 Pokemon, SOOOOO AWESOOOOOME!!! The hard work one has to put into to defeat the ever-Rock first gym as a fighting type truly defines how fire-starter players like to play, hardy and ready for any challenge.
I usually pick the fire, just because there are so few good fire pokemon available at the beginning of the game. If not then grass because its hard to find a GOOD grass pokemon (oddish doesnt get the job done). And you always can get a good water guy. Go catch a magikarp and suffer through the first 26 levels. Its worth the pain. Go Typhlosion!
Lessee. Charmander, Cyndaquil, any of the three third gens, Turtwig, Oshawott. So leaning slightly towards fire. Considering how hard it can be to find a good alternative for a fire critter... Yeah, that works. (Although Rapidash served me excellently in Platinum.)
I took Squirtle when I played Blue, little critter was almost a one man show in taking down the entire Elite Four by itself, along with my Kadabra.
I took the grass type when I played Gold, I forgot the cute things name. Was a decent Pokemon, but had too many weaknesses.
Also, Torchic when I played Emerald/Sapphire since it could take out more than half of the Elite Four by itself. And I like birds that burst into flames.
i hve chose different between games and gens here is what i chose so far Gold:Cynaquil Leafgreen:Charmander Firered:Squirtle Ruby:Treecko Saphire:Mudkip Emerald:Treecko Pearl:Piplup Pearl#2:Turtwig Diamond:Chimchar Platinum:Piplup White:Oshawot Black:Tepig I prefer water but grass and fire types are sometimes better
