Points are lost when a comment or post is deleted. Such deletions can be done by mods and admins and remove the points earned. User comments can also be deleted by the profile's owner.
you could lose AP if: 1) someone deleted comments from you at their profile 2) moderators or admins deleted your comments at someones profile because you was spamming, or flaming or trolling 3) there are no other options anymore, haha
Or deleted a post, or deleted a gamecomment, if the admins had removed your game ratings, if a thread you have participated in got nuked or disappeared randomly, if the site is glitching and the AP isn't showin up properly...
Well it doesn't happen tome that much since I rarely post short comments and I always make sure to play games rate since many people just rate them and leave a comment from what I've noticed.

To prevent your game ratings from bein deleted, play the game before you rate it. You can't always judge a book by it's cover. To prevent comments or forum posts from being deleted, put some thought into each post or comment. Offer constructive criticism when commenting or posting.
I abide by all of the rules above and find them useful.
