So what do you guys think the best modern books are? By modern I mean 90's or after about, because I know that there are is a ton of classic literature out there, and I have read some of it. We all know that some people love books like Harry Potter, Twilight, and Hunger Games, so how about some lesser known books, too?
Some of my favorites are: Charlie Bone Pendragon (I'm not sure how popular it is, but no one I know reads it) Morpheus Road Searching For David's Heart
If you are A Halo fan at all, the books are amazing. Start with Halo: Fall of Reach, action packed and just one of the better books I have read. By the Way i have read all of the series so far and that is definitely one of the better ones.
All of these books sound really good, and some of them are even on my list to read. Although I can't say I'm a fan of Halo, as I've only ever played it a few times at a friends house, I'll be sure to reccomend that to him. I personally love the Ranger's Apprentice series, and the Artemis Fowl series, too. (Is anyone else pumped about the next one coming out this summer? I know I am!) I do have to add that if anyone is interested in the Vietnam War, the book A Million Shades of Gray by Cynthia Kadohata is a really good read. It's about a boy who trains an elephant in his village, and how him and his village was affected when the U.S. pulled out of the war. It is a great book.
I would definitely recommend Disgrace by Coetzee if any of you want an extremely slim volume that is jam packed with thought provoking paragraphs. That Nobel Laureate doesn't waste a word in there. If you guys are tired of just reading endless thriller and adventure books, give it a go.
A song of Ice and Fire. It is a series of books by G. R. R. Martin. The first book A Game of Thrones is watchable on tv as a tv serie and is nice to watch after reading the book.
The Monstrumologist................Rick Yancey Chaos Walking......................Patrick Ness Cirque du Freak....................Darren Shan The Demonata.......................Darren Shan The Saga of Larten Crepsley........Darren Shan Harry Potter.......................J.K. Rowling The Hunger Games...................Suzanne Collins??
Percy Jackson and The Olympians is an amazing series, but don't compare it to the movie which was terrible in my mind. Maximum Ride is an amazing series with action and drama at every corner, all the books are masterpieces except for the very last book that I found lacking of what made me hooked to the series.
I don't read books very often, but i love Michael Morpurgo's books. He has loads of books and they are really interesting and the story's are amazing. I suggest for some of you to read some.
