The Super Mario Bros. serie is the famoust serie of Mario,
and it are 2D-platformers!
It all begin with the first part,
Super Mario Bros.
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/a/af/Bowser333.png/180px-Bowser333.png
The second part is Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
That only was released in Japan, because the tought that the gameplay was to hard for the USA.
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/9/90/Smb2j_5-2_warpzone.png/230px-Smb2j_5-2_warpzone.png
But the game sat in on the Super Mario All stars remake, what include Super Mario Bros.,Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario All stars.
The third part for Japan, and the second part for the USA and Europe was
Super Mario Bros. 2
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/9/94/Luigi_SMB_TLL.png/180px-Luigi_SMB_TLL.png
Super Mario Bros. 2 initially started out as the prototype sequel to the original Super Mario Bros.; however, it was scrapped during its development, and was replaced by Super Mario Bros.: The Lost levels.
And the last of the NES-games,
Super Mario Bros. 3
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/ac/SMB3-gameplay.gif/220px-SMB3-gameplay.gif
Witch introduces the famous raccoon Mario.
After the NES, was the Super Nintendo here came two Super Mairo Bros. games for out
(remakes not included)
The first for the Super Nintendo,
Super Mario World
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/d/d0/SMWMvsB.png/180px-SMWMvsB.png
Witch introduces Yoshi, the famous dinosaur.
And the second part,
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/c/ce/Yisland2.png
Witch introduces again a new character, Baby Mario.
With the Nintendo 64 and the Gamecube was het very quiet around
the Super Mario Bros. serie, because it was looks that Nintendo on the 3D-Mario's had focused.
But with the Wii was everyone again entertained with a 2D-Mario, called
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[/i]
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/5/54/NSMBW_Multiplayer.png/640px-NSMBW_Multiplayer.png
Witch inintroduces a very new feature: mulitplayer!
Well, now I have written many about the Super Mario Bros. serie on the consoles,
but the portable consoles consoles of Nintendo have also some nice games about the serie!
(also here not the remakes)
The first was
[b]Super Mario Land

http://www.cgtopia.eu/artikelimg/games/super-mario/super_mario_land.png
With only 4 world, but the hard thing was: you can only save if you defeat the end-boss!
And than came the sequel, called
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
And there makes Wario his enter, the counterpart from Mario!
And Wario has his own land, in
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/5/5b/MtTeapotCourse7.png
Where you play Wario himself.
The serie from Wario continue, but not anymore with Mario.
On the Nintendo DS was also a famous platformer,
New Super Mario Bros.
http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/5/55/NSMB1.png/150px-NSMB1.png
It introduce 3D-graphics!
So, do you like the Super Mario Bros. serie, or do you want saying something about it? Post it here!

I am a little fan of Mario, not like one of those super fans who do anything to get a mario game. I liked some of the online mario games better than the ds and wii and you know...

Uh, you forgot Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS!

That's a 3D-mario,
so it not belong to the Super Mario Bros. serie.
Otherwise I would also forget Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Wat do you mean with 'not like one of those super fans who do anything to get a mario game'?

The original Super Mario Bros. was a really awesome game. I downloaded it on virtual console for my Wii and I got to world 7 without using any cheating warp-pipes or vines. I was so proud of myself.

I've never played Super Mario Bros. 2 or 3 but I'm not sure why.

Super Mario World was an incredible game. I have beaten it many times. I also enjoy its many secrets such as ghost houses, key holes to switch palaces, and star world puzzles. There really is nothing to dislike about it.

Yoshi's Island is absolutely phenomenal and is the very pinnacle in the series. It has so many puzzles, and plenty of action. I really never get bored of playing Yoshi's Island.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is an excellent game. But it's not one that should be taken seriously. The levels are only mediocre in difficulty and can easily be breezed through. And multi-player is very exciting and a great family activity if you don't take the game seriously. But it's still a game worth buying.

And I've never played any portable Mario games either :/

Well there's my opinions...enjoy.

I relly like the Mario Bros. series. I haven't been able to play on the old SNES system yet. Funny thing is, my dad is quite older than even the computer. Sadly I have no technology from that era.

there's always emulators, if you want to go that route.

ZSNES is a great emulator for super nintendo games, give it a search.

OR, i think most, if not all, of the SNES mario games were ported to the gameboy advance, so if you have one of those and don't feel like emulating, you can find them on amazon or ebay or something.
