Yes, moderators can disable your account for a certain period of time. There are other types of users called 'Admins'. They can disable your account permanentley. In other words, delete it. Admins are a more powerful version of moderators but moderators still have much more power than ordinary users like you and me.
If you are doing something against the rules or annoying, a moderator will usually warn you. This is mostly by commenting on your profile page. If you carry on doing this or have already constantly been doing the thing that is disturbing, the moderator will ban you from the site for a time of which he/she considers necessary.
We don't actually have to be polite to people. We don't get paid, we don't really have any obligations towards the site, and we are people too. Having a bad day or week is what happens, just like you might have a bad week or a bad day.
Basically, we do what we can to make stuff work. It might mean that we are not particularly happy about talking to the hundredth person about something we have no control over, so we might not go "Have a nice day!" at the end, just like the users might not thank us for helping them with a problem. They might actually respond with insults and threats, which is something a moderator would not due (as it is breaking the rules, and if you break the rules, you probably shouldn't be a mod)...
As for the paying attention, well, that's what we are here for.
i'm happy whit moderators because they just spy the site but they can also be friendly not that you are not friendly but some other moderators can be more friendly that is what i want to say
We are jaded. When you have one time found out that being friendly does nothing, there might not be any motivation to be friendly. Then, instead, we are just effective.
Besides, for all you know, the ones that aren't friendly might just have used two hours removing spam from games. It is not something that leaves you with much energy to greet people with "Hello adventurer!" or say "Thanks for your time" or anything. It just leaves you with having to deal with the issue at hand and get done with it.
I am not actually able to disable accounts. I can ban them for a short while. As for that, yes, I have banned many accounts. Outside of the advertisement accounts, it is often not a fun experience.
