Source/1.6 yadayada, whatever you play, CS has always been a classic FPS. I personally prefer it over whatever rolls off the shelves these days, I like my shooting simple, no headshots, killing sprees, rampages, whatever you guys have these days.
So yes, this is a discussion thread for the old hands who play CS. What guns were your favourite? CTs or terrorists? Maps? What mods do you use?
I don't anymore, but we used to play CS lans in the informatic rooms at college with a few friends, during longer breaks. It was big fun^^ I especially loved the pool map, very small, fast-paced, and ideal for walking around with a pumpgun. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I got the names correct but as a CT I preferred the M4, AUG and DEagle, and as a terrorist the AK47 and what I believe to be the SG-something. I did snipe from time to time, but was better at storming, and dieing early :S
As I said, shotguns were my favourite weapons in the poolday map, because it's so small. Just walk around one or two corners on the borders and you'll find yourself in front of an enemy soon enough. And since in those situations, those who can do more damage on the first blow win, shotguns win^^ rifles were only good if you stayed in the middle and shot across the pool.
Every server had at least two people on the opposing team with AWPs.
The AWP must be the most unbalanced gun in the game. Does far too much damage, accuracy is far too good. Any gun that can kill with any hit above the knees with one shot needs to be nerfed a little. Before -everyone- seemingly became AWP *****s, I loved it. Scout and Krieg, 24/7.
You can surprise AWP folk when you rush with rifles/SMGs. At least, that's what I do. I've always thought that Scout snipers were the truly skilled ones, not AWP one shot kill people. Does anyone know a good mod? Or where can I get one?
Krieg is a little overkill, quite a fast reload speed, nice damage, with a scope. And it can rush if used properly IMO.
AWP is restricted on most servers so either only 1-2 can have or non.
And I once did a sniping rush with scout and got 7 kills 6 no scope headshots and 1 deagle 1 shot headshot it was so epic but now they seem to have made the recoil less so people spray alot more
Just remembered this morning: 228 Compact. Favourite pistol in the game. Always used it with the Scout, amazing in close quarters. Yet with my Krieg, I always carry the DE. Simply because it has an amazing effective range. Kill the grunts with the Krieg, take down the snipers with DE.
**Edit To Clarify** By Krieg, I mean the assault rifle. Not the semi-auto Commando. Doubt anyone was confused, but wanted to protect my reputation just in case. XD
I wonder if any of the new teenage CoD fanboys have played, or even heard about this game? Hmmm....
Yes I am probably what you would call a cod fanboy because it is my main game I actually went from ccs to cod they are both great games it's just counterstrike is more serious alot of the time so you can get frustrated easier.

I remember I was on this assault server last man alive and took on 6 or so guys after each other from different angles with scout and compact and was just about to kill the last guy and the server went off I was so angry about it.
