It's a nice discussion, so eh.

What terrible teachers might you have encountered over your years of education?

When I went through the last couple of years before "high school" I had a language teacher that had a most wonderful habit of giving me the same grades over and over again. I could have written Shakespeare level essays and she would still have given me that C+/B.
The same kinda went on with my math teacher. Always the same grades, always the same noted of needing to do something that I thought I had already done.
One time I wrote a project on body language. I got a C. I asked them (as both were my supervisor) what I could have done better. Their answer was that if I had done the presentation better, I would have gotten a B. Nothing on how to get an A, nothing on what in the written part that might have improved my chances of a better grade, just the knowledge that I might have gotten a B if my presentation had been perfect.

Same goes for my language exam a year later, before going to "high school". I got a B because I had forgotten to mention how many frame shifts there had been in the ad I had been analysing. Something I had actually mentioned to her, but told her I would put no time into because so and so.

My "high school" teacher in English was no better, but I think it is time for your stories now.

Most of my teachers were okay at least at teaching. I did however once have an absolutely terrible substitute for English.

He told us to read the same passage aloud 5 times. Why? Who knows. I refused, saying, "I read it once, I know what it is about, I don't see why I should read it 4 more times." He called security to take me to the Dean's office. When security came I went out and he asked me, "Why did the sub call the teacher?" I told him, he laughed, and let me go do whatever I wanted.

Security Guard > Substitute.

Probably the worst teacher I ever had was my 3rd grade teacher. Not bad at teaching, but she -hated- me. I have no idea why. Every time a kid had a birthday party and brought in cupcakes or something I suddenly wasn't allowed to participate because I "hadn't done some work which I had never seen before in my life and no one else recognized it either." She would put me in her office to do the made up work (the office is through a door in the classroom) while everyone else would relax and eat cupcakes. She also loved my neighbor, who on the first day I moved into where I live now he jumped out from behind my bushes with his friend and a Knife. I was 5 at the time and he was like 8. Seriously messed up kid.

Yeah, I really have no idea even why she hated me so much. She would do other things too. Like once for something I wrote (I forget the topic) I put, "women" in it somewhere, and she went ballistic, lecturing me for 30 minutes on how "woman" wasn't a word, and that it was, "women" in all cases. She is/was, and forever will be, wrong.

Let's see...there was the time we were all at recess (indoor) because it was snowing, so we were playing lemmings on the computer. Apparently "no one is allowed to play that game" even though I was the only one she wouldn't let play, and there were like 4 people directly next to me playing the same thing. Why it would be installed on ALL the computers if we weren't allowed to play it...

Another time at recess (outdoor) that kid I mentioned in my first post kept pushing me around, and so I finally went and told the recess guard person, who took me to my teacher, who took away my recess for the day because I was "lying."

Man...the repressed memories are all surfacing now...

I think I have only really had 2 bad teachers.

My first bad teacher. teaching math, was actually really good at the teaching part. I was able to understand the information and I knew it well. She made really hard tests though that she said 'We're made to trip you up.' She would also almost never give partial credit so if you made 1 small mistake you would get full credit off.

My other bad teacher just sucked at teaching. She was my speech teacher and she would talk for 3/4 of the period. We were always behind and she gave us way to much time to do everything. I don't think I learned anything from that class.

At the moment I have the most boring man on the planet as my maths teacher. He always talks about cheese and bread...

Mhmmmm uhmmmm mmmmm

My science teacher last year had sweaty armpits. Every time she lifted up her arms, we would see a huge wet spot there. My reading teacher this year is horrible. She is inconsistent and wastes too much time. For example, if she asks us a basic question, she does not just call on us to answer it. She makes us write it out on a large piece of paper. What a waste of time D:

And my school is a fail too. They have a school time that all the teachers follow - yet that clock is off by one and a half minutes. Also, since the cafeteria could not afford salt for the students to use, they put up an advertisement in the school. WHAT A FAILURE.

Well, last year I had this Australian geography teacher who was just about the most racist person you could find...in an INTERNATIONAL school. My Japanese friend was eating gummy bears in class and she said "What are you doing, eating sushi?"

Plus she could never get anyones names right. For the first few days of the year I was called 'Faisal' when my name is 'Faris' my friend was called 'Tomiya' and this girl called Riya (weird 6th grader who magically ascended to 7th grade) was called Riwa.

And thats all I can remember for terrible teachers cause the most part of school up to now was pretty good.

Wow how rude to judge a person on their race. I hope the school principal knows this so then she can fire her. Most teachers are just trying to help you learn better instead of goofing off.

I remember a terrible teacher I had was one that would give us tons of homework and assignments and wouldn't care what our parents said about the amount of homework.

She was fired last year cause everyone was complaining about her giving low grades to practically everyone (she didn't mark good)

And my history teacher always gives us coloring sheets for homework. Like "color the States ___, the Louisiana Purchase ___," etc.

As far as high school went my teachers were pretty typical. Loved some, hated some.

College is another story...

I've had a racist teacher (If you didn't support Obama you failed the class) Naturally, I failed because I'm a smart arse white kid who constantly argued with her racist tendencies.

An ex Army Ranger who only talked about the army and never talked about the math he was supposed to teach us

And I'll never forget my Freshman Seminar teacher. She never showed up to class, talked about nothing all the time, assigned us groups and changed the groups in the middle of a project, and I swear she suffered from Alzheimers.
