Everyone knows a little bit about what SOPA is. What they don't know, is that this may just be a plot by the American government to control the internet. A person can post whatever they want on the Internet. Governements can contol what is put on television, put in newspapers and what is broadcasted over the radio. They cannot control the Internet, (currently). If people get frusturated with the government, they can start posting petitions and types of other stuff to try to overthrow the government. If the government controlled the Internet, using the Internet to try to overthrow government would not be possible because they could instantly take the website down. What do you think about S.O.P.A. now?
it was put into debate due to 100 billion us $ being lost to piratingg per year, though they stupidly tried to shotgun a bill up that steped all over the constitution the sopa pipa bills are not yet dead
Do people become sillier by the day? Or is just contagious?
Communism is a form of government with no corporations and all objects shared by the community, hence the name. All music, movies, video games, and the like, would be free to attain as you so please under true communism.
SOPA seeks to prevent this, and grant the corporations more power than the government itself, by using aforementioned government against the people. See how that works? Polar opposite of communism.
Not to take the conversation away from communism but Internet piracy is a huge problem.
Im not talking about the millions of lady gaga or katy perry albums illegally downloaded all year round, hell they make enough money for just showing up or mentioning how great certain facial creams are.
Sure piracy hurts big stars but who it really hurts is new and upcoming artists, try putting out a single on itunes, how many people buy compared to how many people look it up on you tube then download it illegally, what it means for the music industry is that new artists with real potential struggle to get off the ground and eventually have to stop producing music because there is just no money in it for them.
In a sense we are robbing ourselves of new music.
I am by no means an expert on the entertainment industry but I have been exposed to how Internet piracy has real potential to hurt real people.
I agree to all those comments. if S.O.P.A. came into effect, all the legal music download progarms (Itunes)would make more money and record companies also. Problem is though, Youtube would die, Google Images and Videos would die and Wikipedia would die
