These games are alike but which is better? why?

I think Castle miners is better because it has better graphics and controls.

I never tried castle miners, but I have played minecraft extensivley and I think the advantage minecraft has over castle miners is that minecraft can be modded and I use that advantage alot when playing minecraft

No doubt Minecraft.

Problem I have with Castle Miners that it feels like it "tries" hard to look good, But in reality, don't need to.

Minecraft is just a proof that "old" looking games are still got it, plus it has a better "feel" when it's played.

Castle Miner (the first one) alone, completely loses to Minecraft. Castle Miner sure has the graphics, but theres no crafting, no enemies, and is in reality, just a boring old sandbox.

Castle Miner sure has the graphics
I HATE the graphics. The point of Minecraft, really, was to take you back to the old blocky and pixelated style types of games you'd play in the 90's, while Castle Miner just wants to have better graphics because they think everyone cares about "graphics."

1. Sorry for the double post. 2. Castle Miner Z on the other hand, can hold it's own. Mainly because Minecraft only has enemies when it is nighttime. Castle Miner Z has enemies, all the time, albeit with a greater volume (almost all zombies) at nighttime. There are less things to craft than in Minecraft, but theres guns.

3. Castle Miner Z is in general, harder to play than Minecraft. Castle Miner Z and their dragons make the game just a tad more hospitable for the rage trait that appears only when a dragon obliterates your house in one pass, soon to be followed by seven more. Although, the same effect becomes apparent when a Creeper is inside your house when you wake up in Minecraft.

4. Minecraft has alot more creatures in it than in Castle Miner Z. Minecraft there are Creepers, Zombies, Skeletons, Pigs, Chickens, Sheep, Spiders, Wolves, Octopuses, Ghasts, Endermen, Cows, and the Dragon at the end. Castle Miner Z only has Skeletons, Zombies, and very frequent Dragons. All of which are represented in a vast array of colours to indicate the challenge they represent to the player.

5. The landscape of Minecraft, besides Seasons, various Realms and Hell, is very bland. It rarely changes out of the general pattern, even the caves are boring. Castle Miner Z however, changes the farther you get from the spawn. In this order Spawn, Floating Islands, Desert, Mountains, Arctic, Motherland, and Hell, and then it starts to descend in backwards order until you get back to where you start.

6. The multiplayer capabilities of each game, is very hard to compare. Minecraft is the more challenging of the two to set up as it requires LogMeIn Hamachi to set up, and thats the simple way, the hard way is a long an arduos process that i'm not going to get into in this thread. But, it is also a rewarding process, as you can fit 16 people in a server compared to Castle Miner Z's 4 person max limit.

7. The number of game errors and problems are getting improved by each update that passes, but some are still prevelent. Minecraft, most commonly, is annoying to try to joina server for unknown reasons, most commonly having to do with the Internet. Castle Miner Z, kicks people for no reason, or a much worse fate is when one persons internet makes everyone else's lag and lead to the popular problem wher the screen shows a rock, you can't move through it, you've already mined it, and on the top of you're screen it says "Air". Or the rendering takes a half an hour to load more than 150 blocks from the spawn and you can't move any further.

Overall, Castle Miner Z is for a close group to challenge themselves against masses of evil trying to kill them. Minecraft is for those who feel that they wan't to farm sheep (me) or just want to build in creative mode. It is hard for me to pick but only this thread will tell what people think.

Response to BRAAINZz:
1 - You didn't double post.
2 - Daytime enemies is just a hassle and if you wanted guns you can easily mod Minecraft.
3 - I feel that both games have a high level of difficulty.
4 - This is true.
5 - I don't really like that the world loops and I feel that minecraft's randomly generated biomes are a lot better.
6 - With Castle Miner being on console, it's a lot more generous with the server setup. I just hate how much memory it takes to run a minecraft server
7 - I rarely run into problems in multiplayer for minecraft, well, except for the occasional griever and admin abuser.

I prefer minecraft over Castle Miner mostly for it's originality, I hate all the people that have copied minecraft's ideas (Yes I know Mojang got the idea of minecraft from infinaminer but Mojang pulled it off 20x better). Ever since Minecraft started gaining popularity (around the beginning of last year) there have been tons of releases of (almost) exact replicas with just a few minor changes such as gold or different enemies. Plus Minecraft's modding community have made mods so that you can alter the game anyway you feel comfortable.

Wait, how do you download mods? I'm not sure, I'm just running the default texture pack, no mods at all, and I wanna download something to mess around with. Maybe bacteria or that insta-house thing.

stephenking's post didn't show up until I posted.

Daytime enemies is just a hassle

It isn't a hassle, you're just not appreciating the game for what it truly is.

if you wanted guns you can easily mod Minecraft.

Mods are more of a hassle and mods are for when I stop appreciating the actual game and using what it supplies to it's full capabilities.

I don't really like that the world loops and I feel that minecraft's randomly generated biomes are a lot better.

It doesn't have to be if you know seeds.

You just contradicted yourself.

What you do is mainly just use win-rar to open minecraft.jar, then you deleate the meta-inf

afterthat you open the mod using winrar and inject the files into tthe minecraft.jar unless there is a readme that tells otherwise.

It isn't a hassle, you're just not appreciating the game for what it truly is.

From what you are saying about castle miner and it's enimies I don't think you could really compare them because I always think of minecraft to be more of a building game, but in castle miner you have one dragon pass over your took-five-hours-to-make castle and your ****ed.

Because of the tendency of creepers to grief there is actualy mods to disable their boom.

Mods are more of a hassle and mods are for when I stop appreciating the actual game and using what it supplies to it's full capabilities.

I always think of mods as adding a more custom level of gameplay because it is putting in and taking out what you want so you can play the way you want and not have to do things like spend hours gathering blocks or make a giant redstone mess intead of just using ceiling redstone.

You just contradicted yourself.

He did state that he relizes that he contridicted himself, but he then added that minecraft improved upon the idea instead of just copying it.

Minecraft seems to find a way around that, from mods to texture packs to it coming soon to Xbox, apparently.

Actually, it isn't. Minecraft decided to work with the makers of Fortress Craft to make a new Fortress Craft, which, in turn made many Minecraft players rage and start playing Castle Miner Z.

Actually, Minecraft could easily surpass any game's graphics due to texture packs and mods... It just wasn't made that way, I guess.

I Thought we were comparing the actual game, not additions made by some nerds. Right now I could go and make mods for Castle Miner Z, I have the programs required and the knowledge. It's the actual games in their originality, that I am comparing.

I think it would be what I have, Microsoft C# Visual Studio (Which you can also make Xbox 360 games with). Partially because Castle Miner Z is an Indie game, and any programming other studio is around 200$ and up, it would seem logical that they would use the most common and cheapest one to make it as C# is free.

That said, I may be wrong as I do not know much about applying the Mod on the Xbox mainly because I enjoy games for what they are and therefore have never used one. And just so you know what you're getting into, the language C# is much like Java but with slight differences. You would also have to find the addition (that probably comes in an update) of XNA.
Good luck!

You just contridicted yourself my friend =), also you cannot mod castle miners using C#, all you can modify is the invitory and even then it takes some skill because it isn't straight foward (I spent an hour researching yesterday) with the names of the items.

Also you cant just MOD it with C#, you first need to decompile the save to edit it, so I think that you were not actualy serious about your knowledge of modding because I've found out more then you in just an hour.

sorry about DP but C++ is also free and alot of games use it for making their engine and shaders.
