It is an action/RPG with more action elements then RPG but it is a nice game. It has beautifully area's and it is pretty hard (which is fun). I'm not far in the main quest but it is nice, although the side quest all feel the same. To me it feels like an offline mmorpg but in a good way.
Well I have the full game and I like how you can create your own destiny. At first I was a warrior class but I didn't like this so for a few gold coins I resettled my character to blanco and created my current destiny a sorcerer/rogue.
This game really brings the best of various elements of other games together, much like Darksiders 2 hopefully will this summer. Take the world of Skyrim, add God of War combat, and fill out the rest from Dragon Age, and we've got Amalur.
I'm a pure Warrior, the only spells I use are the ground pound attack and, "ull over" attack. I also recently switched from using a longsword to a greatsword, the simple feel of going after the giant monsters of Amalur with a giant sword really makes me feel like a total ******.
Great game, a few off things, but it really is awesome. Worth the months of hype.
as i said the second race is best as you can only see hidden equipment and use it as the second race, i just get the full set of metal armor in the first "mission" to get away and then steal "Thief" and assassinate Red Legion soldiers.

Or you can place two points in the Detect Hidden skill. The race doesn't really affect anything but the skills you start with, you can still become as good at Detecting Hidden as, say, a Ljosalfar as you can as a Varani.
I'm playing a Dokkalfar Finesse/Sorcery hybrid focusing on Faeblades and Chakrams, and I've got 50 hours of played time, and I've still got quite a bit left of the game. If you do all the side quests and try to explore as much as you can it really matches Skyrim in size.
This was the best screenshot I could find, I've got other Faeblades now, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.
Oh, and I freaking love the game. Game of the year, no doubt about it.
The developers recently announced that a "speed run" of KoA's main quest and every side quest took roughly 200 hours to complete. And that's with already knowing exactly where to go, and what to do for every quest. And then they questioned if perhaps they might have gone a little overboard.
The main quest alone is supposed to clock in between 30-40 hours, if you just focus on that.
This game... maybe its because I started it after playing a lot of Skyrim, but I just feel like it is lacking something. It's boring for me. I cannot play this game for more than 1 or 2 hours at a time; unlike Skyrim or FFXIII-2. I feel like it's worth 40 or 50 dollars, not 60.
An issue I have, is that there don't seem to be enough enemies in one battle. With the type of combat the game has, there should be at least 4 or 5 enemies for the combat to be at least a little difficult. But I mostly get 3 person battles.
