What are your thoughts on media? TV, mp3 players, xbox 360, whatever you want. I do not see anything wrong with these, but I think too much can negatively influence your life. Sure, TV is fun, but it teaches us virtual reality. All of life's problems are solved in 30 minutes or less on TV. Post your thoughts here, but keep to the rules, please.

I think there is too much 'dumb' tv or at least some people watch too much of it. Like if people watch those movies where people do stupid stuff (ex. *******) and then try to copy them, that's a problem. Of course, there are a lot of good programs too like documentaries, movies based on real events (which tend to be sad, but have meaning), and comedies that make people laugh when they feel a little overwhelmed.

I completely agree with Joe. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Well over all the internet is the best, I own an xbox and it pretty much sucks when you have to pay to play or in most case's to see shows. The T.V is overrated since you can see almost all shows/movies online same with the news. I see no point in paying for a T.V just to get the ads when the same thing is almost free online (I say almost since you have to pay for the internet).

What is wrong with virtual reality? As far as I know, it is a new arena that is pretty important in the modern society, and it most likely won't stop being important any time soon.

Well, if they can go get a Darwin Award, it probably worth it. I don't think those programmes are the issues, it's the morons with no common sense that is.

Anyway.
I don't have a problem with the media. It is a part of our lives, and if we can't adjust to them, then we won't be able to progress from our current state of being. Most of it can be helpful, and will be important for us in our daily lives, and the technology in itself shows some kind of development as a species towards a new high, because it puts our knowledge to use and gains us new knowledge over time.
However, one issue seems to be the use of these media. Not the media itself, but how people, that might be poorly adjusted to it, reacts towards it, of course mixed with the "new" experience culture we are working up.
Mainly TV seems to be at fault here, giving people a quick fix of laughter when watching reality TV, having young people strive to be like the idiots shown there. It's the old hit-and-run behaviour, instead of using TV in a productive way.
Games don't seem to fall the same way, and while music might have their issues, it is something you can remove yourself. If you don't like a certain genre, you don't have to listen to it, and music doe stimulate your brain, after all.

But eh, if I needed to highlight something that ought to be discussed, it would be the social networking sites, that seem to collect people unable to handle the new media at all. That, and smart phones, that together creates a new species of people that have no idea what they are doing, but think they are doing a-okay anyway. They are most likely going to screw up our culture over the next decade or so, if nothing does anything to change it.
