As many of you have undoubtedly heard, Davy Jones of The Monkees passed away yesterday from a heart attack at the age of 66. He will be sorely missed. It's a little strange for me considering I just saw the Monkees in concert less than a year ago. RIP Davy Jones.
Really?! Wouldn't have known if you hadn't posted it here on AG waluigi! (o.O) Well... at least not right away, as I would have probably heard of it within a few days, but still...
The age of 66 is way to young to die and I can imagine you having mixed feelings as you saw them perform a concert not too long ago... =/
Let's honor the man by watching/listening to some of their biggest hits! =)
I used to watch their sitcom or whatever it was on MTV all the time. I liked that a bit more than I liked their music, but their music was still good nonetheless.
Think David Bowie will change his name back to David Jones now?
It was as good as anything that was out at that time. But it started planting the seedings of my music addiction, so heck yeah it was good, lol.
Davy didn't have a patent, but Bowie changed his name so as not to be confused with a Monkee. Seriously? Who thinks he looks like a monkey?!?
(seriously though, the Bowie thing is a true music trivia fact)
In fact, I've gone through the immense trouble of looking it up on Wikipedia (even though I've known this odd fact for many many years)..
From Wikipedia - "Dissatisfied with his stage name as Davy (and Davie) Jones, which in the mid-1960s invited confusion with Davy Jones of The Monkees, Bowie re-named himself after the 19th century American frontiersman Jim Bowie and the knife he had popularised"
Heard about that. Well I never really knew anything about the band itself, but they've made great songs, and I honored his memory by remembering them (and now by listening them too, thanks DayCee ).
While I would not call myself a huge Monkees fan I liked there songs. Also from what I have seen of Davy Jones he was a good guy, not addicted to anything and pretty down to Earth. I was shocked when I heard that he had died.
