I have a question about the importance of the Resurrection of Jesus. In the Torah (Old Testament), Elijah and Elisha both resurrect people from the dead, and then a man who passed away returns to life after touching Elisha's bones.
My question is thus: Why is Jesus's resurrection so important if the feat has already happened thrice before? How is it special?
Also, I know that I am not allowed to censure who is allowed to post in a thread, however I would respectfully request that only those who wish to answer this question and further a discussion based SOLEY on this question post. Please, if you're objective is to troll religion as a whole, I cannot stop you, but please leave this thread be.
Sure, I got this. There are two primary differences:
The important resurrection in the Christ narrative is not an instance of Jesus resurrecting someone else, but rather Jesus himself returning from the dead. Jesus is not resurrected by an outside force (well, God, depending on what sort of view of the Jesus/God relationship you're looking at), but is rather self-causing. It is a natural part of his death and reason for dying, and symbolic of the forgiveness/life after death he grants the rest of humanity.
Which brings us to point two: Unlike the prophets of the Old Testament, Jesus died for the sins of mankind (most important, the fall of man in the garden of Eden). His death is important because it allows humans to be forgiven for their sin. JC takes the being Hell for us, so that we can have eternal life after death.
So yeah, self-resurrection, died for our sins. That's the difference.

Apologies, the submit button had a mind of it's own just there.

A valid point regarding resurrection. Can Jesus' miracles be classified unique if they have been done before?
Alas Xzeno is right in the specific difference. Self-resurrection is the difference.

Although all resurrection in the Bible is viewed as special, done by Jesus or other prophets, the final resurrection was to benefit the world, not simply one persons life and family.
