It seems that nearly everyone in the WEPR forum loves to argue about why their views are superior and why everyone else who thinks otherwise is wrong. Through my experience in this forum, it has been "God can't exist because of this and that" or "Atheists don't have morals" or "I believe that everyone from the Middle East are terrorists" and a heap of other hurtful stereotypes and poorly/distastefully selected (and often flat out incorrect) evidence.

I have created this thread for users to acknowledge and come to terms with any negative stereotypes and criticisms of their religion/atheistic views and, hopefully, we as a community, will be able to learn and grow past the level of pointless bickering.

Oh, I have another issue with my faith. I'm Catholic and priests can't marry... in my opinion, that is just asking for trouble. I mean, I personally wouldn't mind having a priest with a family (at least a family that (s)he was open about). If Priests could have families, I'm sure that all of those nasty stories (we all know what I'm getting at here) would come to a stop.

hmm.. if priests can't have families, hom come my grandfather was a priest?

Sometimes priests will adopt before becoming a priest. One of the funniest priests you could ever know adopted a child from Mexico I believe. Also, other Christian sects have different "rules" regarding relationships and gender. For example, the Episcopalians have female priests in addition to male priests.
Unless your grandfather was a deacon... many deacons can marry if I'm not mistaken.

Joe96, you have any problems with Catholicism? Anything like why the pope is like a replacement for Jesus? And why the call him "father" when the Bible tells not to call anyone father but only to God? Why you should pray to Mary (which is no one more than the mother of Jesus) instead of going directly to God? Doing all sorts of rituals that the Bible doesn't call for?

The Bible you read, and the Bible he reads are different. Period.

I don't know about joe, but I would be heavily offended if someone did something along these lines. Our beliefs are our own, but calling them wrong shouldn't be happening unless we actually went into an argument over it. To casually call someone's beliefs wrong without any warning is rude, piercing, and very ignorant.

Before I receive any flak, because someone is bound to say, "but blade, you do that in WEPR all the time," wrong, I do it when people enter into the argument expecting their ignorant views to win, and not even bothering to prove it right.

The only real problem I have with being an atheist is the stereotype that is attached to it. It's especially where I live (down in texas), and there is always somebody who comes out of nowhere to tell me that I am a godless heathen. It hurt at first, but now I just laugh it off because I know better.
