ForumsThe TavernI honestly can't think of a better title but maybe something to do with cats would be fitting.

WHY AM I ON AG WTFRICK IS THIS SHIZ SOMEBODY EXPLAIN THIS SITUATION AND HOW I CAN OVERCOME IT.

Seriously, why is it 1am and I'm just now starting an essay due later this morning? Anybody who can help me stop procrastinating constantly with everything I do wins a cookie. I'm really sick of this, and I'm fully aware it's entirely my fault and there's nobody to blame but myself, but if anyone has any tips on how they start working on stuff, or what they do to motivate themselves I'd be appreciative. Is that a word? Appreciative?

By the way, if anyone can actually come up with a solution that works for me, I will literally hand deliver this cookie to your door in real life, and it's gonna be a bloody good cookie.

I am an extreme procrastinator and the only thing I have ever found which helps is this:

Seriously convince yourself that the due date is a week earlier than it really is. Don't write down/shred all evidence of when said things are due, and convince yourself that it really is going to be due next class and you can't shrug it off to the next one.

Only down side of this is you might forget that you even have that assignment if you have proof that it was ever assigned.

if you don't have proof*

And I lied. There was another thing I found which helps, but it's early so I didn't put it in there.

Assign yourself some sort of reward for doing something. For example, if I complete x-assignment, I'll read my book for an hour or something. I could also do the reverse of this and say I can't read my book until I do x-assignment.

I do this sometimes too. But getting off the AG forums is a good start

Do things a little at a time. Instead of staying up all night the night before it is due, work on it for an hour each night for a week or until you get it done.

do a little bit everyday starting a week before it's due (or maybe even more for bigger projects). Really convince yourself that you can't have "fun" until you're done.

p.s. it says Posted Mar 19, '12 at 9:48am for the first comment...

Pazx lives in Australia where it was 1am for him. AG forums go by American time zones.

I always procrastinate, my coursework doesn't get done until the night before. I don't mind because I work better under stress. Maybe you just work better under stress?

Do you have time to do it in class? If so just do it then. You have nothing better to do. Seeing how I don't procrastinate much I cannot be much help. I like Kasic's idea though.

AG forums go by American time zones.

Eastern Standard Time to be exact.

I also procatinate alot but i usally seclued myself from anything that would distract me, or i just take a couple breaks in between. EX: I do my homework for 3-5 hours, i go on AG or play Xbox for like an hour. I found out to myself that i cannot work for more than 6-8 hours on stuff without getting bored(when i get bored, i fall asleep). Go on AG for some time just to take your mind off your stuff(or do whatever takes your mind off the stress), then go back to it

I used to be able to pull everything off last minute with amazing results, but now I just can't seem to. I end up staying up all night without doing any work. It's no fun.

I spend like no time on AG anymore, I only came here to make this thread and see what people have to say. I suppose it obviously was procrastinating, but I thought it might help me in the long run.
