If they make a rule that makes sure only people with 100+ pages could make threads, they should add that using those threads to whine about something that is being worked on right now/not reading the stickies/making duplicates of something already discussing the thing being whined about gives a hundred days of not being able to post.
Because it's that annoying.
As a fact, something active is currently being done to fix this issue. Oh, and the staff is working on something too. So, the thing should be under control anyway.
As for the - "suggestion", well, it is infinitely easier to deal with the adbots if they are making their own threads, how many that might be, instead of spamming other people's threads, which they would do, should someone take away their ability to make threads.
To compare, the adbot's threads are like cake on a plate. Pretty easy to "remove", right? Now, if the adbots started spamming other people's threads, which would most likely be one post per thread and lead to massive necromancing as well, we then have a cake, wrapped in plastic, duct tape and a thin layer of chocolate that much not break. Obviously, the chocolate needs to be broken to get to the real unwrapping, then there is dealing with tape and plastic before you can remove the cake with your mouth.
If that isn't easy to follow, then, well, let me be more realistic about it:
If you are going to delete a single post in 50+ threads, you will first have to locate which threads that needs to be cleaned out. When you have done that, you need to find the post in question and remove it, then check if there might be more ads hidden between the posts, and possibly whether there are morons that have responded to the ad, which needs to be removed as well (and the users might need to be warned or banned for obstructing justice or whatnot), then there is checking time stamps to lock necro topics, and then moving on.
Now, besides that, you have to deal with the forums not updating the "last post" username, which means you are unable to see which threads you have actually cleared (after a page or two, it is pretty hard to keep track of threads), which needs to be cleared, nor to mention having to deal with forum glitches, like threads not having the last poster showing, or the "last post" link not actually leading you to the last post and so on, and so on.
If, by any chance, you are dealing with threads only, you can copy the last poster names for banning, then you open the threads, delete them and move on. The only real forum glitch you will have to deal with is if they use special signs in the title, which can be handled by removing the title from the url, leading to the thread anyway, for more deleting.
Simple, easy... Fairly time consuming, but mainly from the sheer amount of threads, and not because of the actual amount of work going into deleting the ads.
Or, Tl;dc:
Adbots making new threads are a good thing for the mods.
Them not spamming your threads is good for you.
